New Creation Church is one of the three megachurches in Singapore. The others are Faith Community Baptist Church and City Harvest Church.

Mission Statement

"To see Jesus in all the loveliness of His person and the perfection of His work and to make Him known through the preaching of the Gospel."[1]

History[2]

New Creation Church was founded in 1984 when a small group of young believers in Singapore decided to gather together. Their vision was to start an independent, non-denominational church that is based solely on the unchanging Word of God. From an initial attendance of 25, the church gradually grew to about 150 members by 1990.

In June 1990, Joseph Prince, a founding member and pioneer leader of the church, was appointed as the senior pastor. In 1995, he began to preach strongly on the message of grace. By 1998, the congregation numbered 3,000. Also in 1998, Pastor Prince received a commission from God to preach the gospel of grace in a radical yet pragmatic way, continuing to unveil the beauty of the grace.

The church currently has 13 pastors and about 15,000 members.

Spreading the gospel of grace

The church has been involved in missions throughout the Asian region and has sent pastors and leaders to countries such as China, Indonesia, Thailand and Malaysia.[3] The church's services are also broadcasted weekly in Uganda[4] and United States (on the Daystar Television Network[5]), and twice a week on the Australian Christian Channel[6].

In 2006, Pastor Prince was invited to speak at the Grace & Favour Seminar at Hillsong Church[7] in Sydney and also to Hillsong London[8] to preach at three Sunday services. He has also been invited to preach at churches in countries such as Canada, Norway, Netherlands and Indonesia.[4]

Sermons are recorded on audio CDs and DVD. This allows for easy access to church material. Books written by Pastor Prince are sold at the affiliated Rock Gifts & Books Centre and at secular bookshops like the Times bookshop in Singapore.[9]

Music and New Creation

The church has produced and released several English praise & worship albums to date - the latest being "You Gave" (2005) and "You Alone I Praise" (2006). There have been other albums released in previous years, such as A Touch Of His Presence and Still Waters.

In May 2007, the church released its first Hokkien and Mandarin worship album - 称義 (Justified), a double CD album containing 10 Hokkien and 9 Mandarin tracks.

CCM artistes such as Bob Fitts and Steven Curtis Chapman have performed in the church. Hillsong United had a youth concert in the church in November 2006.

Church Services

English[10]

Sunday services are at 9am, 11.30am, 2.30pm and 5pm. All services are identical. The Holy Communion is observed every Sunday and is open to everyone.

Midweek Bible study services used to be held on Thursday and Friday nights at 7.30pm. On 24 May 2007, Pastor Prince announced that Bible study meetings would be discontinued. In future the church may organise seminars or specialised training sessions for members. More details will be available on the church's website in due course.

All services are held at the Rock Auditorium, located in Suntec City Mall, on the third level (above Carrefour hypermarket). Each service is also concurrently screened in the overflow rooms on the fourth and sixth floors. For the first Sunday service only, additional overflow rooms are available at the Eng Wah cinema halls. Come July, there will be an overflow hall at the Suntec Convention Centre which can seat up to 1400 worshipers.

Combined services at the Singapore Indoor Stadium are held several times a year, including Christmas. There is an annual Praise and Worship Night, where the congregation gets to praise God in songs written by church members. Free shuttle bus services from Kallang MRT station are provided during these events.

Hokkien-Mandarin

Pastor Mark Ng leads the Hokkien-Mandarin Ministry, which is one of the largest Hokkien Ministries in Singapore. The Mandarin service is at 9am and the Hokkien service is at 11.30am. Both are held at the Suntec Convention Centre which is adjacent to Suntec City.[11]

Children

Headed by Pastor Samantha Azhar, the Children's Ministry runs the children's church and nursery. Children under the age of 12 participate in activities specially designed for their age groups.[12] The nursery takes care of babies and toddlers up to 2 years old at an affiliated creche located within the shopping mall.[13] The rest of their children have their activities at the Suntec Convention Centre.

Rock Connection is a branch of the Children's Ministry which caters to children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Korean

The church has a Korean mission which conducts 2 Sunday services in the city area. It is headed by Pastor Barnabas Kim.[14]

Youth Ministries

There are 2 youth Ministries in New Creation Church. Services are conducted specially for them are and held on alternate Saturday afternoons. All services are held at the Rock (level 6) unless stated otherwise.

D.A.R.E.

D.A.R.E. stands for "Dead and Resurrected Eagles" and is for youths aged 13-17. Services commence at 3pm and care groups are held every fortnightly. Besides these, other special events, such as the annual year-end camp, gigs, outdoor adventure activities, campfires, beach parties and food fests are also held. They are led by Pastor Daniel Chong.[15]

Arrow

Led by Pastor Lim Chin Wah, the new ministry targets students from junior college and tertiary institutions as well as national servicemen and working adults up till 29 years old. Services and care group meetings are held fortnightly. The care group meetings are held in the first and third week of the month, while the Arrow services are held in the second and fourth week at 4pm.[16]
