List of Stuff

To Do

  • Place edit lock on article with the inuse tag so all changes can be made at once
  • Remove stub marker (no longer the case)
  • Wikify major film and tv studio names
  • Add link to interview [1]
  • Include info from press release [2]
  • move sentences about themes used in trailers to the Movie trailers section
    • possibly make it more generic to include using 'Nara' for Cold Case
  • Include info about "Rise to Glory" along with "Posthumus Zone" comment
  • Expand comment about other musicians performing on the cd (they made a point of pulling in others)
    • from interview "we wanted the chance to blow an ungodly sum of cash working with a big orchestra"
  • Add May 3rd, 2005 release date to the infobox
  • write intro for Unearthed section
    • Their first album released in 2001...
    • move note about "the third biggest selling album in CDBaby's history" to top of section
  • in the unearthed section
    • "In keeping with the 'all things past' theme each of the thirteen tracks..."
  • rewrite / organize introduction into three paragraphs
    • style of music
    • biography
    • projects and licensing
  • re-add a note about being the only group produced by Wigshop Records

To Research

  • Research "new theme to the U.S. Open on CBS titled “Center Court”" (information on this is scarce on the internet)
  • Research recorded date for infobox
  • Research producer for infobox
  • Research second cd (2006)
  • Research Wikipedia categories and genres specific to this artist

Cross Linking

Each of the articles for the different movies now have links back to this article in their See Also section. Each is has information about what track was used for the trailer. I did this to get the content and the references out there. If some of the links need to be removed that is fine. I would prefer to have content removed than have none at all. Seattle Symphony and Other Musicians

The paragraph discussing the Seattle Symphony and other musicians sounds almost too much like a review. Should it be removed? Peteresch 20:01, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Posthumus Zone

I decided to include the info found in the Posthumus Zone article and put some of it in the 'media usage' sub-section of the Unearthed album (DarkTim 13:29, 16 April 2006 (UTC)).[reply]

Thanks for the effort and time you are putting into this article. It is much appreciated. A Note: Posthumus Zone is not part of the Unearthed album. It does not belong in that section. The majority of the information is being kept in a seperate article. Please try to keep the information over there to limit duplication of effort.Peteresch 16:06, 18 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No worries. I should also thank you for putting your share of input into this article months ago. Regarding Posthumus Zone, I just placed it in there (media usage of Unearthed) for the time being while I was formatting the article. I really wanted to hear from someone regarding their opinions of it being there. So then, should it be removed? (DarkTim 03:07, 19 April 2006 (UTC))[reply]

My personal opinion is to keep it in this article somewhere but outside of the Unearthed section. Wikipedia precident, however, shows that well known singles and jingles are often seperated into their own articles and then referenced by the artist article. This was (very) briefly discussed in the Talk section of the Posthumus Zone article. Peteresch 17:52, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies for taking a while to edit the particular part of this article, but it has finally been done. I hope it is sufficient for the time being, but if it needs to be changed again, then it is only an edit away! (DarkTim 10:34, 5 May 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Center Court

Is it me, or is it really difficult to find any information relating to the theme for the US Open on CBS? (DarkTim 03:09, 19 April 2006 (UTC))[reply]

It's not just you. I only heard reference to it in passing and have been unable to confirm anything. Peteresch 17:54, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trailer Appearance

Is the music from the Pirates of the Carribean Dead Man's Chest trailer also by E.S. Posthumus? I'm not familiar with that track --vex5 21:27, 5 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe it is by E.S. Posthumus. Look here http://www.soundtrack.net/trailers/?cid=P&id=1741 (DarkTim 06:43, 25 May 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Unearthed Track Listing - Request for Comments

There has been some discussion recently on how the track listing should be displayed and what song titles should link to.

Some Possible Options (suggestions welcome)

  • no links in song titles, just a list
  • song titles link to individual song pages
  • song titles link to related city pages
  • song titles link to both individual song pages and related city pages

Peteresch 17:14, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My personal opinion is that the track names should point to their corresponding city pages. I do not see the need for individual song pages. Perhaps if a song has been released as a single and became popular but for these songs I think the information can be consolidated into the main page. There just isn't enough information to justify the individual pages. Peteresch 17:30, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, I think the track name should just link to the city pages (as it was originally). As you have mentioned Peteresch, I just don't think there is enough information (or a point quite frankly) to have new articles devoted to every song in the Unearthed album. It's either that or just a plain list I suppose. Just a final point, as the list remains right now, I just think it is a little confusing and cluttered to look at, just for a simple tracklist. Writers Listed on ASCAP - Factual Accuracy Dispute

User 69.235.139.166 (I'm guessing "Windsor girl") has provided links [3] that list Robert and Jeff Pfeifer as the writers of songs such as Tikal and Elba and associates them with E.S. Posthumus and Wigshop records.

I believe that we need to carefully choose our wording based on the evidence available. We do not know that they are the same people even though I find it difficult to accept another set of brothers working on the project. It is not uncommon for an actor or musician to distribute their work using an alias. That does not make it an "elaborate hoax". Using different names to distribute their work does not mean that their story is inacurate.

We need to do more research on this topic before putting too much emphasis (using the words "truth" or "hoax") on one story over another. Peteresch 16:51, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes you are right Peteresch, we don't know 100% that it is the people listed on the ACE database. So of course feel free to correct the language used there. However, I am 99.9% sure it is the same people - the German names/pseudonyms used don't exist in any databases, and the Pfeifer brothers are established composers - evident in their list of credits. If you click on The Pfeifer brothers' links, you will see that they are linked to EVERY E.S Posthumus song: [4]

Just to clarify. I am not really strugling with the accuracy of the ascap database. They are a trusted source. What I am concerned with is now we have mutliple reliable sources giving conflicting information. Acording to wikipedia guidelines it is not our job to determine "truth" only verifiability. Peteresch 15:44, 29 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK understood. In comparison to the reliable ASCAP database, where is the conflicting information coming from? Interviews from trade magazines? Press releases? If there's any reason to doubt the information gleaned from the ACE database, then all the information on the "Vonlichten" brothers should also be cast in more doubt. User:Windsor gir1

This will no doubt be an interesting topic for the time to come. Their respective aliases have been utilised so well that everyone that knows E.S. Posthumus refer to the creators as the "Vonlichten" brothers, so I give the guys credit for that. Just for the sake of mentioning it, if you look at the list of all the tracks that they have created, the track "Center Court" makes an appearance, yet there is hardly any mention of it on the internet.

Now the interesting question is, based on the numerous images of the brothers; which one is Robert, and which one is Jeff? (DarkTim 15:28, 8 July 2006 (UTC))[reply]

Woah thats weird... My name is Robert and one of my brothers is Jeff who looks remarkably like the guy on the left... Altho I look nothing like the guy on the right... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Azslande (talkcontribs)

I changed the article a bit [5]. The ASCAP database is mentioned, but the article still refers to the artists as Vonlichten. They've chosen it and that's how they're popularly known. Compare with Bono, which refers to Paul Hewson a grand total of two times. I removed the disputed template since I think the current form is acceptable. --Qviri (talk) 20:06, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your helpful input towards this article. A much better way of delivering the information about the 'Pfeifer" brothers. Glad to see that disputed template has vanished for the time being. Good work! (DarkTim 05:39, 28 August 2006 (UTC))[reply]

In Video Games

I recognize Pompeii from a video game trailer or a video game scene\boss fight, does anyone remember it being used in a video game?

It was used in the (very cinematic) flash animation "Mortal Kombat VS Street Fighter 2" by Proxicide. You may be thinking of that. Mysterious Bob 22:29, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, and Pompeii is being used in the Game Plasma Pong. ~geeked

Media Usage - Wikipedia Guidelines

Is Wikipedia the right place to keep a listing of all the places where tracks have been used? While I personally like the idea of having a list to reference I have been wondering if it would be more appropriate to link to another site that may already be maintaining such a list. I have not done any research to see if another site has a complete list so this may not be an option. It might be worth questioning if this page follows the guidelines.
