Biography

Lorik Cana was born in Kosovo, but left as a child to escape the war when he moved to Switzerland. His father, Agim Cana, also a famous Albanian footballer of so-called "Golden Generation" of KF Prishtina during the 1980s, inspired him and as a young boy he joined the Lausanne Sports in Switzerland. He then worked up the ranks in the team until year 2000 when he was spotted and signed by Paris Saint-Germain. He finally broke into the first team of PSG in 2003 when during the 2003-2004 season he played 32 games, scored one goal, won the Coupe de France, and finished second in the French Division 1 league. This success was repeated the next season when he also played 32 games for the Paris team, scoring one goal. However, at the beginning of the 2005-2006 season the coach of PSG changed, and this prompted Cana to move to the south of France and join Olympique de Marseille. Since joining Olympique he has cemented his place in the starting eleven, and scored the winning goal in the first match between his new club (Olympique de Marseille) and his old club (Paris Saint-Germain). At present, Cana is considered to be the best Albanian football player due to his value in the transfer market.

For quite some time Lorik Cana has been an objective for some of the largest European clubs. His outstanding qualities and good physical condition have made him one of the hottest topics in French media transfer talks.
