Rochelle Rock is a supporting character from the hit television program, Everybody Hates Chris, and loosely based on comedian Chris Rock's real life mother, Rose. Rochelle is portrayed by Tichina Arnold.

Character Background

Rochelle Rock is a kind, heart-loving sweet housewife to her husband Julius Rock, who she married around during the late 1960s, Rochelle and Julius gave birth to their first child, Chris Rock in 1969, then in 1971, they gave birth to their second child, Drew Rock, who looks taller than his older broger, Chris, then in 1973, they gave birth to a daughter named Tonya Rock, and pretty much the entire Rock clan moved from Housing projects, to a Four-bedroom apartment in Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, New York. Rochelle is often loudmothed, sassy and very strict, who makes sure the entire family is run very tight. Rochelle often depends on her husband, Julius Rock, because of him having two jobs, Rochelle easily quit saying "I Do Not Need This, My Man Has two Jobs!", Rochelle may be a little sometimes hetic, but actually loves her family, and makes sure that she is the mother that all of her three children need. Rochelle often cares about what other people think, and passionatly sing (not very well).

As implied in most episodes, Rochelle usually threatens her three kids after they've done something wrong. For example, In threatening her kids, she's made comments such as, "I am going to slap the black off of you!" to Chris, "We need to talk" to Tonya, and "Get in here before I slap the shine off your head!" to Drew. She instructs before she actually does it.

Rochelle also has a thing for Chocolate turtles, a pecan candy, who, in one episode, Everybody Hates the Lottery is addicted to Chocolate turtles, and mostly eats every single one of them. Rochelle is the head of the household when her three kids and husband are gone.
