SummerSlam 2001 was the fourteenth annual SummerSlam professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). It took place on August 19 2001 at the Compaq Center in San Jose, California. The official theme song was "Bodies" by Drowning Pool.
Results
- Sunday Night HEAT match: Lita, Jacqueline and Molly Holly defeated Torrie Wilson, Stacy Keibler and Ivory (2:55)
- Jacqueline pinned Ivory after a Twist of Fate from Lita.
- Edge defeated Lance Storm to win the WWF Intercontinental Championship (11:16)
- Edge pinned Storm after an Edgecution.
- Near the end of the match, Christian interfered to help Edge but accidentally Speared Edge and after that, was superkicked by Storm.
- The Dudley Boyz (Bubba Ray and D-Von) and Test defeated The APA (Faarooq and Bradshaw) and Spike Dudley (w/Molly Holly) (7:19)
- Test pinned Bradshaw after Shane McMahon interfered and hit Bradshaw with a steel chair.
- WCW Cruiserweight Champion X-Pac defeated Tajiri to win the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship (7:33)
- Chris Jericho defeated Rhyno (12:34)
- Jericho forced Rhyno to submit with the Walls of Jericho.
- Rob Van Dam defeated Jeff Hardy in a Ladder match to win the WWF Hardcore Championship (16:33)
- RVD won the match by retrieving the belt.
- WCW World Tag Team Champions The Brothers of Destruction (The Undertaker and Kane) defeated Diamond Dallas Page and Kanyon in a Steel cage match to win the WWF Tag Team Championship (10:13)
- Kurt Angle defeated WWF Champion Steve Austin by disqualification (22:30)
- Austin was disqualified by referee Nick Patrick after he attacked every referee that he saw. As a result, Austin retained the title.
- The Rock defeated Booker T (w/Shane McMahon) to win the WCW Championship (15:19)
- Rock pinned Booker after a Rock Bottom.
- During the match, the APA chased Shane McMahon out from ringside.

Notes
- This was the only pay-per-view in WWE history where the WCW Championship was defended in the main event.
- This is the first and only SummerSlam to feature both WWF Championship and WCW Championship matches.
- This was the first SummerSlam to feature the event's modern logo. While the "double "S"" logo had appeared the year before, the color was different (blue and yellow in contrast to green and blue) and the font for the word "SummerSlam" was slightly different.
