Jeff Gillooly

Jeff Gillooly (now Jeff Stone) is the ex-husband of former ice skating star Tonya Harding. He is best known for being found guilty of conspiring with Shawn Eckhardt in hiring Shane Stant to attack rival skater Nancy Kerrigan. Gillooly and Harding married in 1990 and divorced in 1993.

On July 14, 1994, he was sentenced to two years in prison. After his release, he and the two other conspirators publicly severed all ties with Harding.

Gillooly eventually changed his name to the less-recognizable Jeff Stone.

• Because this was announced around the time of Congressional leader Newt Gingrich's peak of popularity, Jay Leno announced on the Tonight Show that Jeff Gillooly had changed his name to Newt Gillooly.

• In an episode of Seinfeld called "The Understudy", Jerry reports that attendees of his act yell "Gillooly" at him after his friend George accidentally injures Bette Midler while Jerry is dating Midler's understudy.

• Jeff Stone now works in car sales.

• In an episode of Family Guy, Peter and Lois go to see The Vagina Monologues and the performer mentions that since the government has not been able to find Osama bin Laden, they have a new tactic to hire Jeff Gillooly.

• Gillooly achieved a modicum of notoriety when a sex tape surfaced of him and Tonya Harding on their wedding night.

• In an episode of The Nanny called I Don't Remember Mama, at a Country Club that Maxwell Sheffield just joined, for the talent portion of a Mother's Day Mother/Daughter Beauty Pageant, Fran Fine refuses to go back into a magician's saw-the-lady-in-half box that Grace Sheffield and her had performed in at home. Instead she tells Grace "We're going to have to switch to plan B." ... "Call Gillooly.", inferring that they would instead need to eliminate their competition.
