Dance Gavin Dance is a six-member post-hardcore band from Sacramento, California. They were formed out of the dissolution of several other bands, including Farewell Unknown, Ghost Runner On Third and Atherton. Jonny Craig and Sean O'Sullivan joined in 2005 and early 2006 to complete the lineup.
They released their first EP on November 14th, 2006, titled Whatever I Say Is Royal Ocean through Rise Records.
They entered the studio again in January of 2007 with Kris Crummet, who produced Drop Dead, Gorgeous and Fear Before the March of Flames, and released their first full length CD, Downtown Battle Mountain on May 15th, 2007 on Rise Records. The album was leaked on April 12th, 2007.
On August 5, 2007 guitarist Sean O'Sullivan stated in a personal blog that he would be leaving Dance Gavin Dance to pursue join band Heartshed. He stated that there was no "bad blood" among himself and other Dance Gavin Dance members; however, interestingly enough, Dance Gavin Dance removed Heartshed from their Top Friends list on their MySpace page following O'Sullivan's departure.
Dance Gavin Dance replaced O'Sullivan with Zac Garren, the band's former "merch" guy. They have plans of continuing their nationwide tour with LoveHateHero and A Skylit Drive despite the abrupt lineup change.
They are currently touring with From Autumn To Ashes, Strike Anywhere, and Silverstein.
