"Sturdy Drumming"? Every drummer I've spoken to reckons she's the worst drummer they've ever heard in a major band. Djbrianuk 02:04, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
- Well, it's sturdy in that she has that one beat she can play, over and over again... Adam Bishop 03:09, 24 September 2005 (UTC)
- The kindest term I've seen used is "minimalist." It would be nice to include some comment on this in the article, but I can't think of how to do it in a NPOV manner. 24.47.239.129 02:42, 27 November 2005 (UTC)
- it's NPOV to state what others think of her (which ain't much). 67.172.61.222 23:49, 28 April 2007 (UTC)
- Her style has a distinctive charm and a more polished one would not suit the band at all. I could not imagine have becoming as obssessional over them as I currently am if they had had an archtype bashing things instead of her characterful (if undeniably arhythmical) bashings. She certainly beats Ringo Starr... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.142.213.95 (talk • contribs) 13:16, March 16, 2006 (UTC)
- Saying Meg White is a bad drummer is like saying Piet Mondrian is a bad artist because "My 5 year old could paint that"! Get over it already. If Meg is a bad drummer, then so is Jack because Jack taught Meg how to play (he was drummer in goober and the peas). -THE S-MAN
- I WANT THIS REMOVED. Meg is a fuckin awesome drummer, she brings a load of unique simplicity on the drums unlike you Anti White Stripes who like all the bigger, faster, cooler stuff. I don't get what's wrong. So a drummer has a unique way of playing. That's great. A drummer dosen't need all this shit about his/her playing. A drummer can play anyway he/she wants to, there's no special way of playing that all drummers have to go by. So I want all this crap removed in the next 7 days. If not, I will erase it. --S-man 08:40, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize for the above comment. -- S-man, August 2007 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.252.130.35 (talk • contribs) 17:52, August 4, 2007 (UTC)
Faster drumming isn't better drumming. That isn't to say that Meg's a fantastic drummer, but she definitely fits the White Stripes' minimalist style. If they had any flashier drumming, it would just be pretentious. 128.54.197.241 15:52, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- I agree. Meg makes the band. Whether or not she's the most technically proficient or talented drummer takes a back seat to her artistry which makes their sound. Dayleyj 15:38, 28 August 2007 (UTC) (aparently wasn't signed in when I wrote this so I added my sig later)
Article improvement
The White Stripes article and the Jack White article are both good articles. Meg's should be in the ranks with those articles. Let's address some fo the issues it has. I'll start working on it today, and see where we can go from there.--Esprit15d 18:13, 2 June 2006 (UTC)
- Going good so far. :D --S-man 08:33, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Andrew Perry interview
I think we need to get rid of this Andrew Perry interview. I looked at it, and the interview was apparently with Jack, not Meg. This should probably go on the Jack page. --S-man 08:38, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it was with the both of them, but you're right, maybe it should be chucked. She does talk in it more than most (which is usually almost not at all), but it's not really a Meg interview.--Esprit15d 17:26, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
Trivia
I'm putting a trivia in. There's tons more things we all know about her, that we're probably just too lazy to stick in. I'm putting in things such as the MegBot, the bartender job, the animals, the pre-tour videos, etc. I will also tidy up the trivia in the Jack and WS articles. --S-man 17:58, 4 July 2006 (UTC)
MegBot
Shouldn't we put something in about this whole crazy MegBot thing? This MegBot stuff is starting to get pretty popular around White Stripes fans, and I think something should be added about it. --S-man 00:33, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Alright, did it. --S-man 08:34, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's so popular because it's so true. -MegBot Believer — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.130.135.149 (talk • contribs) 20:07, June 20, 2007 (UTC)
Early life/Personal Life
Why does info about her marriage to Jack White specifically fall under 'early life' rather than 'personal life'? 'Early Life' sections on wikipedia almost exclusively cover the person's childhood and adolescense, as opposed to 'anything before they were famous'. If we don't have any info right now about her childhood, we don't need a 'Early Life' section. This is just needlessly cluttering up the page, when the info about her marriage could easily be categorized as 'Personal life'. Rodeosmurf 20:21, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
Birthplace
Minor point: there are no hospitals in Grosse Pointe Farms. Bon Secour Hospital is in Grosse Pointe City, or she could have been born at St. Johns, in Detroit very close to the Farms. Or she could have been born outside a hospital. A2Kafir 01:33, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm....I'm thinking... --S-man 08:37, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- I am, too. I forgot about Cottage Hospital, on Kercheval in the Farms. So ignore me! A2Kafir 13:57, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ahh..yes. Okay. --S-man 20:30, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
The Bourbon/Fav Tipple thing
We can't link this. I got this from the WS trivia on their vh1 page, which asked various questions about them. It gave a fact about the answer on top of the question after that. The question was "What job did Meg have before she was a drummer", which was Bartender, and the fact for it said that bourbon is her favorite tipple. Go to the VH1 trivia and you'll see. --S-man 08:45, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
Silly, Silly Fandom
Good band, but I don't think Meg deserves more than a cursory article. She definitely deserves her own based on her fashion activities. She's got some interesting, positive qualities, and I don't see why people need to trash her. I actually like her drumming. Maybe I'm just a latecomer to the White Stripes, having just bought Get Behind Me Satan, but she's actually pretty good. I find the story about her being the drummer for NIN absolutely ludicrous, because that would be totally out of her league. She'd have to practice for a year to get "March of the Pigs" down. Still, she's good at what she does. The guy above who was enamored of her breasts is right on target. Those are really impressive, especially from such a slender woman. She's got a kind of jolie-laide look that's half country girl and half model/performer. Write neutrally, or leave her be. She's a competent rock star. Billy Blythe 18:23, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
- She's just not a NIN kind of drummer, but that may have been half the joke or whatever it was. I don't know that there's much more to put in about her fashion activities. You are right on one thing. Meg's looks are really underrated by a lot of people. She's super-hot. Dayleyj 15:38, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
The Infobox Picture
As a British viewer of the French and Saunders Show, in which the pair parody Meg White's voice and the reason she rarely sings (i.e. that Jack doesn't allow her because she's terrible), I find the infobox picture of her singing hilarious. Did someone do this intentionally? That aside, perhaps a picture of her drumming would be more suitable, as well as that being what she is best known for, it would allow me to stop laughing at the irony... --Evilhairyhamster 21:36, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
School of Rock
When was she referenced in the school if rock? should it be put on the article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.155.230.187 (talk • contribs) 16:01, August 10, 2007 (UTC)
- The drummer tells the bass player girl that girls can't drum. She disagrees so he says to "name two great chick drummers." The bass girl says Sheila E. and Meg White. The drummer replies, "She can't drum!" Dayleyj 15:38, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
Acute anxiety
Added a comment about and referenced the recently reported acute anxiety problems she is having. Placed it in the Personal Life section Admuz 13:54, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
Sex Tape
Rumor has it that she has a sex tape. Can anyone confirm this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by GrimReaper39614 (talk • contribs) 09:32, September 24, 2007 (UTC)
- It's hit the net pretty hard. Typical online rumour milling. Worse than housewives in a sewing circle! Looks like a fake to me. Amphetachronism 18:10, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- It's fake. The rumor started with a joke post here: http://forums.hipinion.com/viewtopic.php?t=193275 which used a piece of random amateur porn that was posted on postyourgirls.com on Sept 12th that vaguely looks like Meg. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.57.86.210 (talk) 18:13, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- Pitchforkmedia has the first official statement about it here: http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/page/news/45845-sex-tape-definitely-not-meg-white —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.57.86.210 (talk) 18:19, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- For the record, the video is not a fake. It's not Meg White either, but there is no manipulation or editing. Someone didn't take a regular amateur sex video and alter it to make it look like Meg, it's just that the woman happens to look like Meg naturally. Be careful about using the word "fake", since, even though it's not Meg, there's actually nothing "fake" about the clip itself, unless she's faking her pleasure, which wouldn't be anything new. - Ugliness Man 08:00, 25 September 2007 (UTC)
Section altered to include origination of rumor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.28.43.236 (talk) 02:28, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
