Manikya Lal Verma Textile and Engineering College (Previously known as Manikya Lal Verma Textile Institute),Bhilwara is an autonomous engineering institute of government ofRajasthan managed by Manikya Lal Verma Textile Institute society, Bhilwara. In the retrospective time, it was a polytechnic college and was the joint venture of the government of Rajasthan and the Bhilwara group of industries (now known as LNJ Bhilwara group). 1988 witnessed the incredible event of its up gradation to an engineering institute and it never looked back on the path of progress. The society comprised of technical and learned persons who decided to produce textile technocrats, 30 in number, per year with the aim to fulfill the industrial demand of Bhilwara. The first batch passed out in 1992, out of which many students have become the entrepreneurs in some of the other fields of work.

Apart from producing engineers in Textile Technology, the society got the permission from All India Council of Technical Education to start the ‘Textile Chemistry’ as another discipline from 1994 to become the part of the present level of development of Bhilwara and the integral part of the cutting edge technology of finishing the fabric. The institute foresees the bright future of the Textile Chemistry engineers on the grounds that a single gray fabric is being translated into the fabric of several qualities as per the use. Currently the institute is producing 80 textile engineers and is bringing laurels and earning good name to the institute. Our students are serving with almost all the leading textile and other industries of the country in various capacities. The students serving abroad are really the proud of this institute.

Mission

“Dissemination of quality technical education in emerging disciplines aimed at producing skilled man power suiting to the ever changing needs of the world of work in the wake of industrial globalization and modernization, sustaining Indian ethical & moral values.”

Vision

  • To provide state of the art equipments for R&D facilities in specific areas of engineering and technology for intra mural research & development, education and training.
  • To generate industry oriented competent manpower to meet the needs of globalization and cut throat competition.
  • To provide advanced knowledge/know how to students in the new areas of relevance through short term training/continuing education program.
  • To provide effective linkage between industry and our college for sponsored research and consultancy including foreign collaborative research/project work.
  • To temper learning with universal spirit of common good ethics and vedic preaching.
  • To inculcate team spirit in the students as well as faculty and staff to achieve stake holders' delight..
  • To ensure continuous and comprehensive enhancement of knowledge and skills of faculty to keep pace with fast changing technology.
  • To provide pollution free vibrant environment.

New Venture

Department of I.T. and Electronics……….another feather in the cap.

Trails and toils are the part of development. The beginning of the new millennium brought many good things and witnessed as the year of advancement in the technology sector. It added a new chapter into the history of MLVTEC and the society came to the decision of starting the self-financing engineering courses. Inspired by the steps taken by the then central government of India to promote the Information Technology by opening the doors for the multinationals to set up IT industry in the country, the institute started up providing up engineering degree in Information Technology from the academic session 2001-02 with an annual intake of 40 students per year. The first batch of students, experiencing the hurdles, has passed out with incredible results and is currently serving the world of work with the exploration of the capabilities cultivated in them.

The institute has to its credit the state-of-art infrastructure. It is note worthy that it has been the institute with maximum per student expenditure in the past. It is very true that the number of engineers produced, per year, from the institute was very less until the year 2000. In order to fully utilize the physical resources and to contribute to the mission 2020, it was decided to increase the intake and as a result of it, Electronics and Communication Engineering was started in 2003 with 60 students per annum.

The Growth

By the year 1990, the diploma course withered away and the B. E. course in Textile Technology became full fledged with an intake of 30 students per batch, later on the intake in the branch was increased to 60 students per batch. Textile Chemistry was introduced in the year 1993-94, with an intake of 20 students per batch, to meet the requirement of process houses. Information Technology was introduced in the year 2001-02 with an intake of 40 students per batch. In the year 2003, another branch Electronics & Communication Engineering was introduced with an intake of 60 students per batch.

Industrial Services

The Institute provides following services for the industry:
1. Consultancy services to solve technical problems.
2. Commercial testing of Textile Materials like Fibers, Yarns, Fabrics, Dyes and Chemicals etc.
3. Project Preparation and appraisal.
4.Computer equipment services like Computer Aided Designing (CAD), Computer Color Matching(CCM) etc.
5. Organizing short-term courses.
6. Preparation of yarn and fabric samples etc.
7. Production on various machines.
8. In plant training program for managerial staff supervisor and workers.

Admission Procedure

The admissions in MLVTEC is processed through Rajasthan Pre Engineering Test for Engineering ,Architecture and Pharmacy (RPETEAP) and AIEEE. The institute offers following B.E. degree courses -

Branch Intake
Textile Chemistry 20
Textile Technology 60
Electronics & Communication Engineering 60
Information Technology 40

Eligibility : 42 % in Sr. Secondary with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Medium of Instruction : English

Degree : After successful completion and passing the final year examinations, students shall be awarded the Degree “Bachelor of Engineering” in respective branch from the University of Rajasthan. From new seesion (2006-07) the college shall get affiliation from Rajasthan Technical University, Kota. The structure and Syllabi of the textile courses have been so designed, that they impart education and training from the fundamentals to the modern development of Textile Industry along with modern management techniques. Subjects like Computers, Electronics, Applied Mechanics etc. are included in syllabi to acquaint the students with general concepts so that they could understand the working of their departments & provide services at the time of need. The syllabi of B.E. (IT) and B.E. (EC) contains the fundamentals as well as the glimpses of modern technology.

Besides these, following activities are also conducted at the Institute :
(1) Weekly Seminars by the students.
