Non-surgical nose job is a term referring to a procedure in which injectable fillers are used to alter and shape a patient's nose without the need for invasive surgery. This procedure has been performed by doctors since 2003. By filling in depressed areas, lifting the angle of the tip or smoothing the appearance of bumps on the bridge of the nose, a doctor can create a more symmetrical nose that blends well with the patient's other facial features. Better symmetry can also create the appearance of a smaller nose.
Although the procedure is usually performed for aesthetic purposes, it can also be used to correct some birth defects. Because the procedure is not invasive, bruising and swelling are minimal. Duration of results depends on the type of filler used. Radiesse (calcium hydroxyapatite), the ideal filler, lasts for 8 to 12 months. Hyaluronic acid fillers usually last for 5-6 months. Artefill, which was recently approved by the FDA, is a permanent filler; it is currently being investigated for possible use as a permanent version of this procedure.
