MSN Explorer is a web browser, developed by Microsoft, that integrates MSN and Windows Live features such as Windows Live Hotmail and Windows Live Messenger with a web browser. To make use of these services requires a Windows Live ID (formerly known as a Microsoft Passport or .NET Passport). Version 6 of MSN Explorer is built into Windows XP. Version 7 was released at the same time on Windows XP. MSN 8 and 9 were released in 2002 and 2004 respectively.
MSN Explorer is essentially a graphics-heavy version of Internet Explorer, and could be termed an Internet Explorer shell. However, some people may consider MSN Explorer to work faster than Internet Explorer. Every so often the browser will automatically update itself.
Development of the free version of MSN Explorer was halted in favor of a version only available with MSN Internet Access, though the last free version (Version 7) for those without an MSN Service Provider is still available.
MSN Explorer Now Works With Windows Live Messenger 8.5.
MSN has a sign-in system to use the explorer service, which requires a user to have a Windows Live ID, though depending on the version may or may not require a subscription to other MSN Services.
MSN Explorer is known for its many animations and sounds. One of the most known features is the 'welcome' voice, which greets each user once signed in, which can be set to greet by name, or to simply vary from "Good Morning" to "Good Evening" depending on the time of day.
The Previous version of the program is 9.50.34.200, which can be used only if users have a paid or trial subscription. It has a new graphical interface resembling polished metal, and several other features. The new e-mail interface is embedded in the browser itself.
The interface also includes many Flash animations. Microsoft also plans to add many more graphical features.
The Newest Version 9.50.0039.1900 allowed capibility for Windows Vista.
There is currently a bug in the "Favorites" menu that does not allow users to organize or delete items. [1]
