Fresh Start

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: may be offensive because "BS" is short for "bullshit.". After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

Thank you. JetLover (talk) (Report a mistake) 04:06, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I apologize for the "no reason given", there was a change in the template that I was unaware of. I forgot to fill in a reason. However I have now, and one may not realize your name means (big squid). It could be very easily confused with bullshit. JetLover (talk) (Report a mistake) 04:15, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I would rather hate that 'confusion' to take place.Anti-BS Squad (talk) 04:21, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'll start an ANI topic on your username, see if there are any opinions on this. Sorry about all this. JetLover (talk) (Report a mistake) 04:21, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think its only fair to let you know the name is a deliberate and unfunny double-entendre. I thought it would be fine to just admit my name stands for bullshit but I thought I would have my fun and think up something not particularly clever to substitute BS for.Anti-BS Squad (talk) 04:24, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Still.. its hardly that offensive, you can read the word on talk pages left right and centre, I dont see a reason to waste youre time or create a fuss, if you want me to change it sure thing, but I dont really see the reason.Anti-BS Squad (talk) 04:26, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not censored, but usernames can be. JetLover (talk) (Report a mistake) 04:27, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Okay Ill change, sorry for taking up your time and being a fool, do I have to get my whole name changed or can I just change my signature?Anti-BS Squad (talk) 04:30, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, your username is OK. Never mind. JetLover (talk) (Report a mistake) 04:37, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I think this is an inflamatory aggressive username and this is not needed here. I agree that it should be changed. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 04:39, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Changing your signature is ok but it doesnt change the big huge username on top of your userpage. I would advise you to change your username. Its pretty easy, please see: Wikipedia:Changing username as its inflammatory. No one is going to buy the "anti squid theory". An admin will take care of your username change. Please make sure its not inflammatory. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 05:09, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Username

Hi, sup? You mentioned you had an old username you forgot the password to. Do you mind if I ask what account that was? thanks, --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 04:30, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You used "Rob,G,P,A" before? Could I know the exact username if possible? Also, could you give me links to a few IP edits on Israel that you say you've done? I'm just curious. thanks. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 05:12, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ok thanks, I look forward to know if possible, what other few edits you made using an IP or the other username. Also, use the preview function for posting. It helps. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 05:16, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Please change your username as I suggested about or I'll file another complaint an ANI. Its needlessly offensive. ALso, this guy looks interesting. Pretty amusing its his 2nd edit and he gives you a barnstar. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 04:18, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The facism template has been on this article for a while. Please achieve consensus on the article's talk page before removing it from this page. --Matt57 (talkcontribs) 04:36, 3 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Reply to 'Offended'

Hmmm... your message made me read over what I had said, many months ago and I thought carefully about what you have said. Consequently, I have changed my views so that my Muslim friends do not fall under the categor I criticize.

On the contrary, I am delighted someone has replied. I am more than willing to defend my points, and look forward to your counter-response. Here is my defense and my clearing up of a few personal points:

  • I think that the Sharia law has it wrong. Sharia law demands Christians and Jews to pay a tax to live under Islamic protection. This has been rejected in many Islamic countries, most of all my favorite Turkey. However, in Iraq, the native Christians, known as the Assyrians have been stupidly called Crusaders by some misled extremists, who have began ethnically cleansing the area. Assyrians are in some parts of northern Iraq being forced to leave their homes or convert. Some have the less choosing option of converting or dieing, as have some priests in their own churches. Some churches have been bombed too. See Assyrians for more info.
  • The above is why I had made the first statement regarding my view on the Middle East. The thing is, Iraq is chaotic, and no one cares about a native christian group, who number a mere 3% - they don't have a big say in Iraq and so won't be treated with too much respect. After all, Assyrians have been persecuted as Christians since the times of Timur - thats why the Assyrians mocked him the name "Tamerlane", from the Aramaic "Timur-i-linga", which means "Timur who limps" or "who is lame". But, in Egypt it happens as well. The Coptic Christians amount to 10-15% of the population. Yet you probably did not realize that it takes a long time to repair even a woman's toilet in a church in Egypt. Thats how restrictive they are. Churches take longer still to build and need permission. See Coptic#Human rights.

So you see... the thing is... Iraq and the Middle East had been the homeland and the birthland of Christianity. It is very disappointing to see my fellow Christians come under fire. I have had many Muslim friends. This is a delicate subject indeed. I am not saying that all Muslims are bad. You accussed me of labelling people under one category. You've assumed incorrectly. I apoligize for stating the silent genocide of Eastern Christendom - I know it might actually horrify people to know that Christianity is NOT a western colonial, crusader import but was once the Middle East's main religion.
