Well, I've decided to apply to join the [[WP:ADMIN|''dark side'']]. As a user with whom I have interacted, I would appreciate your [[Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/BQZip01|input on my nomination]]. Welcome!
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia:

  • Please respect others' copyrights; do not copy and paste the contents from webpages directly.
  • Please use a neutral point of view when editing articles; this is possibly the most important Wikipedia policy.
  • If you are testing, please use the Sandbox to do so.
  • Do not add unreasonable contents into any articles, such as: copyrighted text, advertisement messages, and text that is not related to an article's subject. Adding such unreasonable information or otherwise editing articles maliciously is considered vandalism, and will result in your account being blocked.

The Wikipedia Tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. Again, welcome!

Flagship

Hello, thanks for your message. I hope I haven't given the impression that Wikipedia has a policy specifically on use of the word "flagship" to refer to Universities. Just in case there has been any confusion, I did not revert you. That was done by an anonymous editor who seems to think I will "law down the law" about this using my role as administrator. I can assure you that is not the case, at least not until the issue has been discussed and I'm confident that I know the consensus or majority view. I did block a couple of users because of a similar discussion at Texas Tech, but those users were engaged in personal attacks, uploading copyvio images of Texas Tech, etc. So the block was because of their behavior, not their viewpoint.
If things at UNT reach that point, of course, I would feel free to more forceful, but right now it is just a discussion. I have encouraged the anonymous editor to engage in dialog about this.[1] Of course, I'll watch out for violations of WP:3RR, but I haven't seen any of those yet.
The issue has been discussed on the talk page of several Texas colleges/universities. I think my view is consistent with the majority view, but I'm not 100% sure about that. It could be that only a few voices have been heard so far and that the majority view is not yet known. That is why I've replied to your post at the article talk page. To keep the discussion going.
Perhpas what we should do is to have a centralized discussion at Talk:Texas. That would allow us to get in some views from a wider range of people. Would you support moving that discussion to this centralized site? Johntex\talk 14:18, 21 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Denton Bible Church

What do you mean it is not about Denton? It has to do with religion in Denton. It is one of the largest if not the largest church in Denton. It already has been denied a page on its own and if you are not aware, Wikipedia:Places of local interest indicates that the local page is an entirely appropriate place for community articles like churches.--JEF 01:52, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

I think an article in the Washington Post proves the claim that Tommy Nelson is nationally know for his series on the Song of Solomon. [2]--JEF 03:32, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

My bad. I erased the article under Famous Residents. I thought that you were waiting proof of his notability. Anyways, I am satisfied with the compromise and am finished editing. Sorry for bothering you.--JEF 04:04, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Brad Majors and Janet Weiss

I saw your deletion of these additions to the notable residents section of Denton, Texas. Yes, they were spurious but not, as might be thought, actual individuals doing a vanity post. Please see Rocky Horror Picture Show; they're the two "victims" of Frank N. Furter....I'm surprised the person who put them in didn't also link them, as I wouldn't be surprised if there were articles on "them".Skookum1 02:58, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your reply....but I can't remember the show's script well enough to remember if that was where they were from; they may have been, in fact, but it's been a long time, and unlike many fans I don't have the show memorized. It's never been performed in Denton, has it?Skookum1 05:47, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

USAF and USDAF

Thank you for the link to the DoD organization chart. Unfortunately, the chart does not show what you stated in your posting on my talk page - that the USAF is an element of the Department of the Air Force. If that was the case, I would expect to find the USAF and the USDAF in separate boxes. But the USAF is not - in fact, it doesn't appear anywhere on the chart. Rather, "Air Force Major Commands and Agencies" report to the box titled "Department of the Air Force", with nothing inbetween.

I welcome further information on the matter. Thanks. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 01:35, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The above has been copied to Talk:United States Air Force (my mistake for not starting the discussion there); further discussion is invited at that page. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 03:05, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We're looking for Bonfire pictures, as the article is lacking in them. It's currently a featured article candidate. Do you happen to have any pictures that you can add under one of the free licenses? BlueAg09 (Talk) 22:47, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Tx-dps-shoulder-patch-new.png)

Thanks for uploading Image:Tx-dps-shoulder-patch-new.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 02:27, 12 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
