One Million Star (Chinese: 超級星光大道; pinyin: chāo jí xīng guāng dà dào) is a popular televised singing competition in Taiwan. It was first aired on CTV on January 12, 2007, shown every Friday from 9:30 pm to 11:00. Hosted by the noted host, Matilda Tao (陶晶瑩), the aim of the show is to gather young people who have talent in singing so as to find the one that has the best qualities to become a superstar.

Rules

In the early auditions, hopeful contestants are screened by preliminary panels to be selected for singing talent. The audition process is long and tedious, beginning with hundreds of candidates eliminated till the number is lowered. Every week, the contestants have different tasks that involve singing to complete. The one that performs the worst will be eliminated. The six finalists will no longer face elimination, but they will be graded on their performance each week and the one who excels wins the grand prize one million NT dollars and a record contract.
