Splitting Ohio for stubs

A discussion is taking place at Stub types for deletion concerning changing the regions used to subdivide oversized Ohio stub categories. Caerwine Caer’s whines 02:21, 10 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No importance classing?

Does the {{OH-Project}} tag have an importance heading? I don't see any on the Ohio-related articles that I've seen. SpencerT♦C 20:37, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fredericktown

Is Fredericktown, Ohio different to Village of Fredericktown? CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 19:06, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I live near Fredericktown, Ohio and the articles are indeed about two different locations. --Rkitko (talk) 23:46, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I missed the Columbiana County link. I've tagged them both with disambiguations. CambridgeBayWeather Have a gorilla 16:08, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I took the time to revise and rewrite this article (being that I live there and all) because it was a sloppy mess beforehand. I plan on adding other things, including media (newspapers, radio stations, etc.). Let me know what you think. Hopefully it can be rated as at least a Good Article some time soon. Wlmaltby3 (Talk / Contribs) 19:24, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Technical issue? When I google "hannan trace river valley" I get a short article on these two ohio schools. When I send the URL to someone (including myself), clicking on the URL gets just a notice that there is no such article.65.79.130.39 (talk) 13:58, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I think it may be ready for an upgrade to start status... we're well underway in fleshing it out. If one of the admins would like to take a look and see. Thanks Ryecatcher773 (talk) 03:02, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How do I submit Hudson, OH for assessment? ExplorerCY (talk) 03:46, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested photo categories

I noticed that there are subcategories of Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Ohio divided by town, and many more that don't exist (i.e. there are pages in the category but the category doesn't appear as a subcategory because it is a redlink). Anyone here have any thoughts on upmerging the category? —Random832 15:27, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main Template

I have overhauled the template

{{OH-Project}}

but will not put into effect the changes, instead I put them here:

{{OH-Project/Sandobx}}

See the difference below:

I figure I'll change it, and if someone's unhappy with it they can revert it. I've tested this extensively and it seems to work fine. §tepshep¡Talk to me! 22:10, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Newsletter

Has a Project Newsletter ever been contemplated? If anyone is interested I am trying a version at: User:Stepshep/Sandbox/Newsletter. If this gets okayed there is already a bot set up to send it out to all project members, with a link to remove themselves from the spamlist if they wish. I'll send a couple of you guys a note so this doesn't get passed over. §tepshep¡Talk to me! 21:30, 27 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will try to assist in any manner that I can...Remember that I am new to this end of the site and my skills will be 'slower' (not that I will not learn) than the normalCookiejuran (talk) 01:34, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
On the surface, this idea sounds good. Do any other State projects have newsletters, and its all within the realms of Wiki's talk page policies? Mass emails like this are allowed then? If it turns out its within all the rules, this sounds like an excellent idea, and remind me to help the project more often. - A.J. (talk) 02:35, 28 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Newsletters are mass mailed by many Projects (Biography, Military history, Food and Drink, Germany, Cleveland Cavaliers, Novels,), just to name a few I'm aware of, as long as there is way to stop recieving the letter it's fine... and I already have an idea for an unsubscribe list so that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the comments. §tepshep¡Talk to me! 19:45, 28 March 2008 (UTC) Edit: Most newsletters are listed here: Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Newsletters.[reply]

Went ahead and mass sent the newsletter, it should be going out soon. I figure that's the best way to get community consenus, so everyone can see it. §tepshep¡Talk to me! 00:03, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning cats

There is a list at: User:Stepshep/WPOHCAT, a bot will be tagging all all articles under the categories left. If anyone wants to remove ones not Ohio related please do. Thanks for your help. §tepshep¡Talk to me! 20:33, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting assessment for Pickerington, Ohio

I have made some major updates to the Pickerington, Ohio page and would like it to be assessed. If someone could do that, I would be greatful! I'll return the favor for your article, if you assess this one. Thanks! Metatinara (talk) 05:36, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, unfortunately we don't have adequate images of Ohio's only National Park. Commons:Category:Cuyahoga Valley National Park is all there is. If someone is going there sometimes this spring, summer, or fall please take a camera with you and take pictures of the sights and the typical landscape. TIA --h-stt !? 11:55, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Any specs? I have a good feeling a good NPS pic is somewhere online. Front entrance? What you lookin for? §hep¡Talk to me! 23:57, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I didn't introduce myself. I'm the main author on US National Parks, Monuments, Historic Sites and so on in the de-Wikipedia. I've been to many of them myself, have traveled many states of the US (and provinces in Canada), but haven't been to Ohio and this Park, and probably won't come there anytime soon. I have to write about it none the less, because we don't have anyone in the German Wikipedia, who has been there. And frankly, from the NPS-Website I did not get an adequate idea about the park. The aerial images at Google finally helped me to understand about it. So basically I would like to have pictures of everything in the park:
  • Nature and the natural landscape: The River, the tributaries (with the Brandywine Falls and other waterfalls), the forest, open areas, ...
  • The cultural landscape: The historic locks, the towpath, the historic farms, farm land, man-made ponds, other historic buildings, ...
  • A National Park in a densely populated area: The Ohio Turnpike (and/or other overpasses), sub-urban developments (as seen from the park or the park as seen from them), the golf course, other recreational installations of any kind, industrial buildings close to the park, ...
  • whatever I missed here that is specific for Cuyahoga Valley NP.
You know, first of all Cuyahoga Valley NP deserves a decent article (and decent images) just because it is a National Park. But I think there is more: Having protected nature in a densely populated area is an interesting challenge for environmentalists. And one that will become more important. There are no more Yosemites, Yellowstones or Grand Canyons around anymore, not in the US, nor in Germany. But valuable patches of nature, interconnected with remnants of historic use by man, and a huge need for recreational use today are pretty typical for the developed world. And this makes Cuyahoga Valley NP interesting and deserving to be reported at Wikipedia - in English language but in other languages as well. Can anyone of you help me and Wikipedia in general, by providing a few images of the topics above, and/or of anything else that I didn't know or think about? --h-stt !? 17:19, 27 April 2008 (UTC) PS: This is not urgent. Take your time, but maybe someone of you thinks of my wishes, when you go to the park anyway - or if you are looking for an idea on how to spend a day this season. I put the category at the Commons and the article here on watch, and hope to see a few good pictures coming in over time. Thanks in advance[reply]
