==Immigration==

You can't have a line like this: "However, massive immigration from Mexico started placing tremendous burdens on the county's services and quality of life. " without documentation. I grew up in the Imperial Valley and increasing corporate control of farming could just as easily be blamed for the decline in real wealth of the region. Scapegoating immigrants without documentation is just wrong. [[User:Halfelven|Halfelven]] ([[User talk:Halfelven|talk]]) 07:57, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Wondering how to edit this U.S. County Entry?
The WikiProject U.S. Counties standards might help.

Least wealthy of all California counties?

Are you sure that Imperial County is the least wealthiest of all of the California counties? Isn't Tulare County less wealthy? --fpo 02:55, August 16, 2005 (UTC)

Tulare county is 3rd poorest in California, while neighboring Kings County is second place and the poorest title does belong to Imperial county. The U.S. Census and state government web sites offer the kind of income distribution data. Imperial County should has prospered from the NAFTA economic boom of the 1990's, then the concept of a mainly agricultural economy means wages are dangerously low. Imperial county is treated like a poor bastion it is by visitors and businessmen from the state's urban centers. However, there was significant growth and development in Mexicali in neighboring Mexico that provided income gains in a region not considered economically stable.
