Several articles have had differing years of service for the grand masters. I will update the articles with the years listed at and . Usage of the title

It says in the article that only the Teutonic Order had this position of the Grand Master, yet all the others had it as well. Needs to be corrected. Norum 11.06.2006

Missing articles

The historically most important Hochmeister during the the Monastic state "are blue" now, and the missing articles can be created as stubs using the name, dates etc. I suggest using Template:Hochmeister as it needs less source code in the article than the default succession box.

Template:Hochmeister

See Heinrich Walpot von Bassenheim as a starting point. --Matthead 04:27, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think Image:Teuton flag.svg would make a better graphic, as it is the seal of the Grand Masters themselves. Olessi 18:17, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Converted it into a small PNG as I canot handle SVG directly. See result above.--Matthead 22:08, 14 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article name

In German, the leader of the Teutonic Knights is known as the Hochmeister (literally "High Master"), while the leaders of other orders are known as a Großmeister ("Grand Master). While "High Master" has sometimes been used in English, "Grand Master" is used much more frequently.

Information on the Grand Masters of the Templars and Hospitallers is currently at Grand Master (order), Grand Masters of the Knights Templar, and List of Grand Masters of the Knights Hospitaller. Moving this article to Grand Master (Teutonic Knights) makes sense to me, as it would provide proper disambiguation if Grand Master (Knights Templar) and Grand Master (Knights Hospitaller) are created. Alternatively, Grand Masters of the Teutonic Knights would fit with Grand Masters of the Knights Templar.

If the article is moved, the introduction should list both English names, of course: The Grand Master (German: Hochmeister, literally High Master) of the Teutonic Knights was the ..." Olessi 19:58, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed, Grand Masters of the Teutonic Knights with the proper explanation in the lead seems best to me as well. --Lysytalk 20:03, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Move and intro changes completed. Olessi 19:29, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
