This article does not require the parenthetical in the title: I propose moving it to Mr. Capone-e.--Rockero 03:30, 31 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Feud with MS-13

I have read that he is wanted dead by the street gang MS-13(sorry, no links).Hopefully someone can provide a link. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mark667 (talkcontribs) 00:33, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is also an African American rapper called Capone, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capone-N-Noreaga. ´Wathiik 14:21, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity

There seems to be a debate over whether Mr. Capone-E is Chicano or Middle Eastern (Pakistani?). What are the sources for this info? Let's have a discussion about this here rather than reverting each other.--Rockero 21:25, 8 June 2006 (UTC) http://www.latinrapper.com/featurednews30.html has references to him not being Latino, Mr Capone-E has replied to other beef but chose to not address the Middle Eastern comments. Mr. Capone-E has an Arab real name, he makes a point to not refer to himself as Chicano in interviews, and doesn't dispute references to not being Latino. People only remove the Arab references because they are big fans of his. I'm all for him doing his music, but show me some links in which he says he's Latino and I'll be happy to stop revising the page.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.159.29.213 (talkcontribs) [reply]

If his government name is Arab, which it is, the burden of proof is on demonstrating that he's ALSO Latino, not on disproving that he's Arab. If you claim that he's discussed throughout media as being Mexican, then please provide links, until then your claims have no merit. It shouldn't be that hard for you to post legitimate sources if you're correct.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.159.29.213 (talkcontribs)
If his real name is available, we should include it in the article. Also, if he is Pakistani, then his last name should be Urdu, not Arabic (although it is entirely possible that it the name could be Arabic). At any rate, we need sources for any info we include in the article, so in effect, User:68.159.29.213 is correct in that the burden of proof is on you, ChicanoJ, to prove that he is Latino. However, the proof doesn't necessarily have to be a website. If you can give specific data about claims to a Hispanic heritage, that should be enough. Finally, since there is so much debate, we should include who says what about his ethnicity in the main article, in order to minimize further vandalism. I also formatted everyone's comments; I hope nobody minds.--Rockero 05:50, 9 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe he's both. there was immagration from the middle east to mexico incase some of y'all dont know that? Unknown User 16:59, 12 March 2007 (UTC) Rockero 21:25, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

Tower records just has that as an album description based on his appearance, however, which is swhy they erroneously put Puerto Rican or non-Chicano artists in the Chicano section of stores as well. You give a writer a picture of a brown guy with a shaved head and shades and they're going to write him up as Latin in the description. Plus the NY times doesn't say he's latino, just that he's an artist of Latin Hip Hop (Chicano style rap being a subgenre of Latin Hip Hop).— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.159.29.213 (talkcontribs)
I think the latest revision by Rockero is on point.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.159.29.213 (talkcontribs)
yeah it is.--ChicanoJ

If he has decided to drop his genre of Chicano rap obvoiusly he is not chicano he is middle eastern.

Mr. Capone-E's real name is Fahd Azim. He is from Pakistan and he speaks Urdu. His father was a corrections officer. This is at odds with the lyrics of his song where he opens with "I grew up a young brown mexican..".— Preceding unsigned comment added by Orgulo (talkcontribs)

It would be great to include this info in the article. Where did you hear/read it?--Rockero 03:21, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
don't you think someone who knew him back in the day would have came out and said something about him if that was true Orgulo.ChicanoJ 04:51, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism again

Someone just deleted the whole article and uploaded the press text. Here's the original text:

Early registration for Wikimania 2007 is open. [hide] Mr. Capone-E From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search

Mr. Capone-E is a sureno rapper and producer from the Los Angeles, California. He records for the Thump Records and Hi-Power labels.[1] According to his website, he has sold over 500,000 records.[2] Capone-E has collaborated with such hip hop performers as Mr. Criminal, Lil Menace, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, NB Ridaz, Lil Flip, andCher.[citation needed] He is most noted for his integration of Motown Sound into the Chicano rap genre, the best known example of which is his rendition of the Rosie & the Originals song "Angel Baby". Although his style is generally considered Chicano rap due to Spanish words and a Hispanic accent in songs, rivals such as Big Capone have publicly released diss tracks bringing his heritage into question saying he is really of Pakistani descent and leaked his real name of Fahad Azam, his real name was always shrouded in secrecy by Hi-Power. Capone and his cohorts even leaked a video that showcased an old picture of Azams's from his pilgrimage to Pakistan.[3] To further add disrepute to himself, Mr Capone-E has chosen to neither confirm nor deny these claims but instead chooses to rather distance himself from the Chicano genre and prefers to style himself as a "Sureño sureno rapper".

In an interview with Teen Angels magazine, Capone-E claims to have a criminal record. He is a known male prostitution Kingpin. According to the Sureño Rap website, he runs his male prostitution ring from the San Gabriel valley.[4]

Besides his criticism of Capone-E's musical abilities, his rival Capone has also accused him of "not even [being] Latino". The interviewer then asked, "But in all fairness, even if he's Middle Eastern, he's still brown, its still brown on brown violence it can come to. Is it just that you don't like that he does Chicano rap?", to which Capone responded, "Nowadays, you got guys like this dude, dressing like a Mexican dude. He's pimping our culture, the way I see it. And then people, you know, think he's a real cholo."[5]

This interview, along with bulletin board and internet forum posts, have fueled rumors that Capone-E is of Pakistani descent, a charge he has not denied or admitted to. Contents [hide]

I think we should re-write the original article, focussing not so much on ethnicity but on music and culture instead.

Wathiik 07:35, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can supplement what's already in the article with information on his music, given you provide reputable sources on the web, but his ethnicity is significant and needs to be part of the article. Any time there's a message board topic about him or a youtube video of his online, some if not most of the discussion and posts from people involve his ethnicity. The article doesn't need to be rewritten, but if you have content that you can add that can be cited from a notable site (not a blog, etc), go ahead and add some info. 70.149.171.35 16:26, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not saying it's not important, but there isn't enough information about the music in the article . SOMEONE DELETED THE DISCOGRAPHY *again*! Wathiik 12:26, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy section

This section is unsourced, and because we do not keep unsourced controversial information in biographies of living people, I am removing the section. Feel free to replace if sources are added. Kevin (talk) 23:12, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hey just want to add to this that his lyrics go through the turban wars, snapper and TI beefs etc. its common knowledge in rap communities but diehard capone-e fans still refuse to accept that he's not mexican. if you got any LA hip hop head admins on wikipedia hit them up and ask them yourself. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.31.253 (talk) 07:15, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that any interpretation we make of his lyrics is original research. Kevin (talk) 07:19, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

there's a difference between interpretation and outright statements. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.219.31.253 (talk) 07:23, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Not in relation to sourcing a controversy section in a bio. The song lyrics are not a reliable source, and cannot be used to verify a controversial issue. Kevin (talk) 08:26, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
