Ángel Valodia Matos (born December 24, 1976) is a disgraced former Cuban taekwondo athlete. He received a gold medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney,[1] and added another at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.
At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Matos lost the bronze medal match in repechage, due to expiry of Kye-shi time (medical time out). After he incurred an injury in the fight, and subsequently took a Kye-Shi, the referee ruled that he had taken too long during his time out. After the winner was declared as Arman Chilmanov of Kazakhstan, Matos kicked Swedish referee Chakir Chelbat in the face, drawing blood from the referee's mouth, and also pushed a judge and spat on the floor.[2][3][4]
