He has become popular with the fans and has made the right back position his own with a number of brilliant performances, particularly going forward. He played a massive role into helping the club win promotion to the second tier of football now known as Coca Cola Championship for the first time in 24 years and also helped them win the League One title. He scored his first goal on November 27th 2007 at home to Hartlepool United which was a late 82nd minute winner to earn his team a valuable three points and put Swansea City at the top of League One for only the second time in the season, he scored his second goal for the club just two weeks later at home to Southend United helping Swansea City to win 3-0. At the end of the season Rangel was one of five Swansea City players to make the PFA League One Team of the year along with Captain Garry Monk, Dutch Midfielder Ferrie Bodde, Midfielder Andy Robinson and League One top scorer with 24 League goals Jason Scotland. The only question is... does anyone know who named him and what were his parents thinking?
