Terry Sanford High School (formerly known as Fayetteville High School) is a public high school in Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States. It is named after Terry Sanford, who was a North Carolina state senator from 1953 to 1961, Governor of North Carolina from 1961 to 1965, and United States Senator from 1986 to 1993. It includes grades 9-12 and is a part of the Cumberland County School System and is one of the oldest schools the system.


Student Organizations and Extra Curricular Activities

  • Silver Honor Guard- an AFJROTC rifle exhibition drill team founded in 1999

Athletics

Terry Sanford's sports teams play under the name "Bulldogs". Many of the school's athletic teams including the soccer and football teams compete in "Bulldog Stadium".

Football

Over the years, Terry Sanford football has enjoyed varied success in football, with their apex being a 1985 appearance in the 4A NCHSA championship game.[1] However, between the years of 2001 and 2008 the football team has posted a record of 31 wins and 62 losses.[2]
