Chace Community School is a comprehensive mixed state secondary school in Enfield Town with 1210 pupils in 2005. It is situated on Churchbury Lane with its fields backing on to Baker Street. It should be noted that the spelling of Chace is correct, despite the school being close to the Chase Side area of Enfield. The school logo is the Enfield (the same as the London Borough of Enfield logo). Its colours are black and red. The school has been awarded specialist Technology College status.

History

First opened in 1956 as a secondary modern school for boys in Chase Side. The school became comprehensive in 1967 and was merged with Enfield Grammar although they demerged 3 years later. The school became co-educational in 1985.

Houses

The school previously had 4 houses, named after 4 large estates in the area. These are listed below with the house colour in brackets.

The house system was abolished in September 2003.

The school is in the bottom half of the Enfield league table with 45% achieving 5 GCSEs at grade C or above in 2005.[1]. In 2008, 44% achieved 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (including Maths and English).[2]

In 2005, the average points score was 254.5, equivalent to just over 3 grade C A Levels.[3] In 2008 the average points score per examination entry was 208.3, equivalent to just under 3 grade C's.[4]
