Jamie Soward (born 13 November 1984 in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales) is a professional rugby league player for the St. George Illawarra Dragons in the Australian National Rugby League (NRL) competition. He previously played for the Sydney Roosters. His position of choice is at halfback and also five-eighth
Playing career
Half-way into the 2007 season, Soward was given an immediate release from the Sydney Roosters to move to the Dragons. He played Round 11 as a Rooster and Round 12 as a Dragon.[1]
He is the current record holder for most points by an individual player in a game for the Dragons with 22, when the Dragons defeated the Canberra Raiders in 2007
He was unlucky to miss out on the 2008 NRL finals series after Ben Rogers pounced on his position when he was forced out with an injured back.
In October 2008 he was selected in the Indigenous Dreamtime team to play New Zealand Māori, as the curtain raiser to the Australia v New Zealand 2008 Rugby League World Cup match. Soward kicked four goals and had a hand in several of his team's six tries in the Dreamtime's 34-26 win.[2]
