Muswellbrook railway station is a station on the Main North (Scone) branch of the CityRail regional network's Hunter Line, and serves the town of Muswellbrook, New South Wales.
The station is the site of a former rail freight yard. The Merriwa section of the Ulan line branches off the main north line at the northern end of the rail yard.
In early 2007, the Australian Rail Track Corporation commenced work to rationalise the tracks within the yard and add a passing loop long enough to accommodate 1500 metre long freight trains. Upon completion of that work, freight trains will be able to pass through the yard area at 80 kilometres per hour, improving travel times.
That passing loop is planned to be the Muswellbrook end of an upgrade that will see the Main North Line upgraded to double track from Antienne to Muswellbrook, completing double track between Maitland and Muswellbrook.
