He also created a record by having 19 matches in one day and finishing all of them by submission. He has also competed and won in other styles of grappling such as Judo and Sambo in which he took 2nd place in the World Championships.

Rigan Machado is an 8th degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu earning his rank under Carlos Gracie Jr. He is a former Jiu-Jitsu world champion and a veteran of the ADCC. Machado holds a victory over Ron Tripp, one of only two men credited with a victory over Rickson Gracie, the first was the late Rolls Gracie. He currently teaches out of his California Academy.
