My Own Way (US Edition) is the third studio album and American-debut album by Jay Sean and it set to be release Summer 2009.[1]

Background

Although Jay's been active in the British-Asian and Global South Asian markets for six years, Jay put out his second album, My Own Way, independently in Europe and India last year. It quickly brought him to the top of the European R&B charts, sandwiched between names like Ne-Yo and Mariah Carey. His video for the album's first single "Ride It" has more than 10 million views on YouTube, and he plays for crowds of over 50,000 while on tour outside of the U.S. Eventually, that success caught the attention of Ronald "Slim" Williams, the CEO of Cash Money Records.

"He looked at that and went, 'Ten million views and this kid is not in America?'" "For him I think he felt, 'I want to help this kid, and he needs our engine, that is Cash Money Records, to take him to the next level." [2]

On October 15, 2008 at the MOBO Awards, Jay Sean announced that he had signed with the American Hip-Hop record label Cash Money Records. He has made a remix for his single "Tonight" with Lil Wayne, because Cash Money Records are releasing the remix to introduce Jay Sean to the American market. Jay explained “It’s always been a dream for me to sign to an American label. And it’s great to be accepted by the best in the game.”[3]

Jay Sean released My Own Way: The Deluxe Edition exclusively in the UK. Iinitally the album was set for a release in the US, but his new bosses said "the album has been out for a while and on the Internet, noone will have the album so let us make something new to America."[4]

On his first interview in America with MTV IGGY, Jay Sean announced that he was recording five new songs for his forthcoming US debut album, one of which will be "Tonight" featuring Lil Wayne. Jay Sean also discussed a collaboration with Akon at the Grammy Awards 2009, and will also record a song with Nadine Coyle[5] and believes the album will be released in Summer 2009.[6]

Some of the tracks for his forthcoming US debut album is "Tonight (Remix) featuring Lil Wayne", "War", "Far Away featuring Keisha Buchanan" and two other unknown songs. He have recorded a song with unknow title and are producted by Cool & Dre. No one of the songs have been leaked on the Internett. Jay Sean has also featured on a song called "Written on Her" alongside Birdman for the CEO’s next project.
