Template:Future television series Template:Infobox reality music competition The ninth season of American Idol will premiere in January 2010.[1] Judges Simon Cowell,[2] Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi[3] are returning as judges, though there were reportedly doubts about DioGuardi's return, as well as speculation Abdul's contract will not be renewed.[4] Rumors have spread that Season 8 was Simon Cowell's last season on Idol because of his involvement with Britain's Got Talent and The X Factor. - Contestants must be between the ages of 16 and 28 as of June 12, 2009 and be eligible to work in the U.S.
Hollywood
The participants will sing one duet, one group performance and then one solo.
Semifinals
Similar to previous season, there will be a Top 39 with 13 people in each group. Four will be selected (2 highest boys and 2 highest girls) from each group. The Wild Card round will consist of 4 contenders with each one selected by the four judges. One selected from that to form a Top 13.
