Thomas Joseph Lawlor (born in May 15, 1982 in Fall River, Massachusetts) is a American professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He was a cast member of SpikeTV's The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir.

Biography

Tom Lawor lives in Orlando, Florida, he trains with the renowned mixed martial arts team, American Top Team, which includes "The Ultimate Fighter" alums Ben Saunders and Seth Petruzelli. Lawlor, who has been following the sport since "UFC 1" in 1993, has been training full time for the past two years following a brief career as a professional wrestler in central Florida. Originally, from Swansea, MA, Lawlor moved to Ft. Myers, Fl. in his early teens and attended Estero High School where he was a standout athlete competing on the wrestling, football and track teams. An All-State wrestler (competing as a heavyweight) and an All-Area offensive lineman in high school, Lawlor continued his athletic success at the University of Central Florida. A social sciences and education major, he was a 3-time NCWA (National Collegiate Wrestling Association) Champion at UCF. Following graduation, Lawlor decided to delay a career as a high school history teacher for a career in mixed martial arts.[1]

The Ultimate Fighter

Tom Lawlor defeated Ryan Lopez with a rear naked choke in the first round. Lawlor was given a shot to be the next Ultimate Fighter. Tom Lawlor was in the first fight against Ryan Bader but lost by KO. Lawlor ordered a fruit platter to eat everyday. However, when he would get home from the training center he often finds it already eaten by Team Nogueira. Lawlor wanted to get back at them, so he and several members of Team Mir urinated in Lawlor's own fruit platter and places it in the refrigerator. Dave Kaplan then gets drunk and claims that he cannot be knocked out. He asks Lawlor to hit him. Lawlor at first declines to do so. At Kaplan's insistence, Lawlor punches Kaplan in the jaw and Kaplan falls to the floor unconscious. Kaplan claims he was not knocked out.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

Tom Lawlor won his UFC debut against former The Ultimate Fighter: Team Nogueira vs. Team Mir cast mate Kyle Kingsbury. They fought on the preliminary card at the UFC: The Ultimate Fighter 8 Finale.[2] Tom was shown with a new look. After the fight with Kingsbury, Lawlor dropped down in weight and now fights as a middleweight.[3]

Tom will have his second fight for the UFC, when he takes on C.B. Dollaway at UFC 100. The fight will be on the under card.[4]
