The Brotherhood of Southern Soccer (BOSS) is a soccer fan group based in the southern United States of America. The group's primary aim is to bring Major League Soccer team into the southeastern United States. The group was founded in 2009 in an effort to drum up support for the expansion of MLS into Atlanta, Georgia and possibly later expansion to other cities in the south.

History

BOSS was founded in July of 2009 admist friendlies played in the Georgia Dome between Mexico and Venezula as well as a World Football Challenge game featuring Club America and A.C. Milan. The formation of the group hopes to capitilize on the success of those two games and modeled themselves after the Sons of Ben which helped bring a MLS team to Philadelphia.[1]

The Brotherhood of Southern Soccer crest includes a phoenix, a symbol of the city of Atlanta dating back to the Civil War. The phoenix symbol is found on the city flag and seal. The phoenix represents the group's birth as an Atlanta supporters group and is a popular symbol for a potential Atlantan team. The phoenix's wings surround the states of Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Kentucky, Louisana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia, the geographic reach of the group. The colors of green, black, and silver were decided by an on-line poll among members.
