Wahine litterally means "female" in Hawaiian.
The official name is Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team.
The catch phrase "Catch the Fever!" Often

name Wahine is female surfer. The
uniform of the Wahine Volleyball typically
is green and white to reflect school colors.
To reflect the rainbow, the Wahine
all typically wear rainbow colored less
then 5 inches in size ribbons, scrunchies, or pins
in their hair to reflect this rainbow name.

Wahine practice all their games in Gym 3.

sports complex located at the University of Hawaii
at Manoa. This center has the lockerrooms,
the weight rooms, and the dining facilities
of the Wahine Volleyball ball program. As well
as the offices of the Wahine Volleyball programs
staff. Before and/or after each game, the Wahine
dine in the Stan Sherriff center, on meals
typically produced either as part of a pot luck,
Wahine Volleyball players themselves cooking
up a meal, or some other means of eating.

Wahine are expected to act, proffesionally "cool and collected", aloof, dedicated, and mean.

History

Founded in 1975 by Dave Shoji. This volleyball program competes in the NCAA Division One series. The program was run out of Klum Gym from 1975 to 1994. This team has play all over the United States, and plays international volleyball exchange programs with Samorodok Russia, Nittaidai of Japan. This team has produce several internation professional and olympic players.

The Wahine Volleyball teams has accumlated

1979 an AIAW Championship title by defeating Utah State.

1982 NCAA title by defeating USC.

1983 NCAA title by defeating UCLA.

1987 NCAA title by defeating Stanford.

1994 Wahine Volleyball program transfered to the Stan Sheriff Center Typical crowd at home 10,000 fans.
