Walter Joseph Phillips (1884 – 1963) was a painter and woodcutter. Phillips was born in Barton-on-Humber, Lincolnshire, England. After studying abroad in South Africa and Paris, he emigrated to Canada. He spent the rest of his life in the United States and Canada. Phillips died in Victoria, British Columbia, in 1963.
