- Anglophone-oriented data-scraper/user-generated-content websites are hardly reliable sources about a guy from the former Soviet Union. And I suspect the "greco-roman wrestling" thing is a mistranslation of "панкратион" (pankration) or something. cab (talk) 15:03, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Keep, appears to meet the primary notability guideline as well as WP:ATHLETE. He is president of the Azerbaijan Pankration Federation [1], and [2] confirms that he was champion of the USSR in 1987. cab (talk) 15:03, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Comment Open.az is the copy of his own personal website and ru.apasport.az is an interview with him denying that he's someone else. So far no reliable sources are present to confirm that he was ever a champion of USSR. Although, in my opinion, being the president of the Pankration Federation of Azerbaijan meets the notability guideline. In my defense, that info was and is still missing from the article.
