The Simon City Royals, or more formally the Almighty Simon City Royal Nation, are a street gang which began in the late 1950s in Chicago at the corner of Drake and Wabansia streets on Chicago's northwest side when a gang began calling themselves Simon City after Simons Park which was located on that corner. This Simon City gang, led by Michael Kraft, combined with another street gang known as the Ashland Royals, and thus formally formed the Simon City Royals in the early 1960s. Since this time, the Simon City Royals have spread throughout the country, and now are present in many states in the Midwest and South, being the largest and only mainstream non-Nazi white street gang in the country. The Simon City Royals are also a noted member of the Folk Nation alliance, also known as "The 6", being of the Almighty Family. The Simon City Royals are known to be enemies with many gangs, especially in their motherland Chicago, being at war with the Imperial Gangsters, Latin Kings, Jokers, Drakers, Belairs, Insane Deuces, Almighty Gaylords, Spanish Cobras, Latin Disciples, Latin Eagles, and Insane Unknowns. Within Chicago they are close allies with the Northside Insane Popes. Outside of Chicago the Simon City Royals are known to be closely allied with the Gangster Disciples and to fight the Latin Kings and MS13, along with possibly white skinhead gangs. Considering their allied with the Gangster Disciples in the South, they may also be enemies with the Vicelords.
Chicago Chapter
The Simon City Royals formed in 1964 with the merger of the Ashland Royals and Simon City street gangs after a fight between two leaders, Motorhead and Tuffy, took place in which Tuffy took victory, resulting in merger. A faction of Simon City members refused to take up the term Royal however, and were led under Dwight Dean for some time until merging into the Simon City Royals or retiring from ganglife. In the early 80's Toddy "Dillenger" Brewer R led over 100 royals from there main set of Central Park & Wilson aka "CPW" the Motherland. He had goals to unite and grow the royals nation. He was slain by the Puerto Rican Stones in the early 80's. The Simon City gang was of mixed nationalities, however, the Simon City Royals were originally an exclusively white street gang. Overtime the Simon City Royals within Chicago began to take in some Black and Hispanic members to maintain inner-city manpower, although Simon City Royals outside of Illinois tend to be strictly White. Within Chicago the Royals are known to be in active wars with the Latin Kings, Insane Unknowns, Insane Deuces, and multiple other gangs, being closely allied with the Northside Insane Popes, who refer to themselves as Royal Popes much of the time. The main leader of the Chicago chapter of the Simon City Royals is the imprisoned Brian "Mouse" Nelson, with the Simon City Royals being powerful in the Northwest Side of Chicago, especially near Rogers Park, Albany Park, and Logan Square. Their most large section within Chicago is the infamous Bryn Mawr & Spaulding Section, located on the intersection of Bryn Mawr and North Spaulding. The Chicago Chapter also includes the sections of Simon City Royals established in other cities in Illinois and in Chicago's suburbs, including cities such as Springfield or Aurora.
Other Chapters
The Simon City Royals also have large chapters in other states in the Midwest and South, especially in Wisconsin and Mississippi. These chapters include the Brew City Chapter and the Mississippi Fighting Legion. The majority of chapters all have a central leader, but Simon City Royals tend to operate differently from city-to-city or chapter-to-chapter. Some groups of Simon City Royals function more as a street gang, while others function more along the lines of a street gang heavily influenced by the concepts of fraternities and secret societies. In Mississippi the Simon City Royals are one of the largest street gangs, however, they differ sometimes from the Chicago Royals in that they refer to themselves often as Royal Knights and sometimes bear the title Insane instead of Almighty before the name Simon City Royals. Simon City Royals are also noted to have chapters or sections in West Virginia, Tennessee, Florida, and multiple other states.
Publicity
The Simon City Royals tend to avoid widespread publicity from the media, such as the publicity and infamy often given to mainstream black gangs like the Bloods, Crips, and Gangster Disciples, or Hispanic gangs like the Latin Kings or MS13. They are becoming much more noticeable and popular, however, throughout the country as they spread throughout the Midwest and South and are now possibly gearing to spread into the Northeast. Publicity has been given to the Simon City Royals from the magazine Newsweek, which points out the large number of Simon City Royals in the United States Military, and their presence in war zones like Iraq. Also, the recent crackdown on Simon City Royals in Milwaukee has begun to promote publicity, considering the crackdown on Milwaukee Royals involves the DEA, FBI, and Milwaukee Metro. The Simon City Royals are located on the north and northwest sides of Chicago in the Rogers Park, Albany Park, and Logan Sqaure neighborhoods.
