Adrianne León

Adrianne Leon (born March 15, 1986 in San Diego, California) is an American singer-songwriter, actress and guitarist. She is the co-founder and lead vocalist of the alternative rock band Caught Crimson.[3] Leon began writing songs for the Emmy award-winning soap opera General Hospital. Leon went on to have a role as the punk rock teen Brook Lynn Ashton, which earned her an Daytime Emmy nomination and a Soap Opera Digest Award but left the ABC soap for the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless, as Colleen Carlton. After her dismissal from CBS soap opera, she admitted in an interview with Soap Opera Weekly that she had not been able to do her music with Caught Crimson as heavily as she had planned and would now place her focus there.[4]

Biography

Early life

Adrianne Leon was born in San Diego, California; she is of Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian, Italian descent.[1][5] She was raised by a single mother Theresa Anne[6] and has one brother, Leon's mother had planned on naming her Adrienne but due to the tradition of Leon's maternal family of using the name Anne for either as a middle name or as a part of the first name – which is considered a nod to her great-grandmother, Theresa Anne simply changed it from Adrienne to Adrianne.[6] Leon states herself as Roman Catholic.[5] Leon began acting and singing at weddings at the tender age of 6 and was briefly involved in musical theater[1]. After completing the seventh grade, Leon was home schooled by her mother and then rapidly advanced through high school.[1] She's a member of the ASCAP[7] and AFTRA.[7] Leon is represented by Michael Zanuck of The Michael Zanuck Agency/ MZA and is vocal about how pleased she is with him. Acting

Adrianne Leon started her acting career in musical theater starring in several productions including Anne of Green Gables, A Little Princess, Jungle Book, The Wizard of Oz. She voiced over a Glamma Jammas commercial which she provided vocals for and was also in a Public Service Announcement for Vons, a Los Angeles-based supermarket chain.[11] Leon starred in the indie-film Pheromones as the lead Anima, the film is directed by Genie Joseph and is produced by Hawaii Movie Studios.

In May 2004, Leon was cast as the feisty and rebellious teen Brook Lynn Ashton on the soap opera General Hospital. Leon portrayed Brooke Lynn as a talented punk rock singer and songwriter who constantly fights against her mother Lois Cerullo's pressure to become a rock star.[11] Leon was named "Outstanding Performer of the Week" of September 13 2004 by Soap Opera Weekly for her performance as the rebellious young Quartermaine[12] The role earned her a win for a Soap Opera Digest Award for "Outstanding Female Newcomer"[13][14] as well as a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for "Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series"[14] later in 2005. She also guest starred on the ABC prime time sitcom Hot Properties as the young music VJ Courtney alongside Harry Hamlin as his much younger fiancée.

In early 2006 Leon took over the role of Colleen Carlton on The Young and the Restless. However, due to a change in the direction of the character, she was released from her contract in June 2007.[4]

As of 2008, she will be co producing and starring in her second movie titled First Kill that is currently in production and is scheduled to start filming in early 2009. Adrianne Leon will play the leading role of Isabella Marchello, [15]

Personal life

One of Adrianne Leon's best friends is Rachel Kimsey, who after Leon's dismissal from the CBS soap opera threw a "What the Heck? I Just Lost My Job" party, where her close friends attended.[4] Leon has a puppy named "Price" with who she shares custody with former co-star Darcy Rose Byrnes, they named her due to the fact that she was on The Price is Right.[4] Byrnes saw "Price" but wasn't able to adopt it, so Leon did.[4] Leon had a mutual friendship with former co-star Davetta Sherwood before Sherwood's dismissal from the CBS soap in September 2006. Sherwood describes Leon as "...so sweet and focused..[16]
