FSM Parody

Thanks for your message at my talk. I'm replying here. First, thank you for explaining in a reasonable way, which I appreciate because sometimes other editors get angry when they are reverted, and you did not do that. Now as for your point, I'm actually quite sympathetic to it, but neither my personal views nor yours (nor any other editor's) belong in articles here. If the sources say that Bobby Henderson et al. created FSM as a parody, then that's what we need to report, and changing it to say something else needs to be reverted. That page walks a difficult line between displeasing readers who feel as you do, and displeasing readers who feel the opposite. Just compare what you said with these comments on the same talk page. Some people actually get quite upset if it doesn't say "parody." We all have opinions about who is right: those who believe in mainline religions, and those who reject them. But Wikipedia articles are the wrong place to argue that point. Rather, they are the place to report neutrally how reliable sources have argued it. --Tryptofish (talk) 17:44, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
