The Calgary Alberta Temple will be the third temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alberta. The first, previously known as the Alberta Temple, was built in Cardston in 1923.

Church president Thomas S. Monson announced the Calgary temple on 4 October 2008 in the Saturday morning session of the 178th Semiannual Conference of the LDS Church.[2] The temple will serve saints in the Calgary and surrounding areas.
