Image Tagging Image:Alice icon.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:Alice icon.gif. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Steve block talk 20:51, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing that up. I've gone through and fixed all the images I know of that had that problem. -SCEhardT 05:44, 24 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Let the admins decide. Don't simply remove a deletion tag. Harvestdancer 18:56, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

"If this page obviously does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion, or you intend to fix it, please remove this notice" Clearly the tag should not be there. If you wish to delete the page, use WP:AFD. -SCEhardT 19:04, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Adminship

Hi, I noticed you put speedy tags on some unsourced images. Looking over your talk page and contributions, you seem like a pretty good user. Would you be interested in becoming an administrator? I doubt you'd meet much resistance at WP:RFA. :) Coffee 17:01, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I would be interested. I've been thinking for a while that a few more tools would be handy! -SCEhardT 19:48, 1 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Here you go: Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/SCEhardt. Just follow the instructions at the bottom of this page. Good luck! Coffee 02:52, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! -SCEhardT 04:05, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures

Hi, thanks for letting me know about the unsourced thatch picture my mistake, however I'd appreaciate it if you let me know that u also put the others on notice of deletion... And infact some of them were adequately sourced. Not all pictures need to conform to a specific usage rule, and in fact this would be most most hard, as not all sources agree fully with the gnu or publidomain license, but are perfectly fine with educational usage like wikipedia. thanks. sunja 06:54, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the following images: Image:Cob house dated 1539.jpg, Image:Cob Oven.jpg, Image:2story cob.jpg, Image:Cob interiorwall.jpg, Image:Thatchmaking.jpg, Image:Cob interior.jpg
Thank you for providing the sources on your images. I did not personally place the 'no source' tag on any of the above images; they have been tagged that way since one day after you uploaded them. Unfortunately, the copyright status of the images is still unclear. Do you have a link to the specific copyright information? All the images do need to have a copyright tag, as mentioned at the copyright tags page. Specifically, "Images on Wikipedia must be tagged to help adhere to copyright laws and identify free material for use." Thanks for your cooperation and understanding. -SCEhardT 16:19, 4 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ok i just looked at the histories... These were uploaded before the tagging of images on wikipedia was formalized. seen here Image_copyright_tags#Presumed_Free_images so thats why, although i do remeber checking a box saying that they were not copyrighted. So thanks for letting me know, something i did not know had changed. :) And as far as using a tag now, i will try to find one to fit the situation. sunja 07:32, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations!

I'm pleased to inform you that you are now an administrator. Please consider reading all the material on the administrators' reading list before testing out your new privileges. Though everything you do, excluding image deletions and page history merges, is reversible, you should nevertheless be very careful with your sysop capabilities. For instructions, please see the administrators' how-to guide. Good luck! — Dan | talk 05:55, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Images

Hi - Regarding the images you're moving to the Commons, the versions remaining on Wikipedia can't be speedy deleted. According to WP:CSD, "Redundant. An image which is a redundant copy, in the same image file format and same or lower resolution, of something else on Wikipedia. This does not apply to images duplicated on Wikimedia Commons, because of licence issues; these should be tagged with {{NowCommons|Image:newname.ext}} instead." Please use that tag instead. Thanks! -SCEhardT 15:56, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, the images I moved are identical with same file format. I just renamed them sligtly so they follow the Ranks and insignia of NATO armies officers format. Rank insignias cannot be copyrighted, doing so violates internatinal law starting with geniva convention (combatant identification). I have to deal with over several thousand images here so please assist as formalities are overstressfull, I do not want to waiste time nicely listing several thousand images on IFD. --Cool CatTalk|@ 16:08, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I was certainly not suggesting that you do that :-) At one point both CSD and IFD said that 'NowCommons' images should not be deleted. Now the pages conflict, with the IFD page saying that they can in fact be deleted. I'll try to figure this out. -SCEhardT 16:15, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at Wikipedia talk:Moving images to the Commons, it looks like deleting the image IF it is Public Domain is fine. So disregard what I said earlier, except you might want to use a tag like {{db|Now in Commons - Publc Domain images are deletable in this case per [[Wikipedia talk:Moving images to the Commons]]}} to avoid confusion. -SCEhardT 16:28, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image tagging

Hi. Thanks for reminding me about those images I hadn't tagged! When I uploaded them I couldn't find the correct one. They're all fixed now (I think.. lol!) except these four. Not sure what I need to do to them. Aren't they right? 1, 2, 3, 4 Avengers fan 22:57, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for fixing those! The source of the image is the website you downloaded it from. See the image description page for more info. -SCEhardT 00:09, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

...as per your request. Kit 08:32, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

That's just what I had in mind! Thanks! -SCEhardT 16:47, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Blues pages

Just wondered why you deleted the image on the Cambridge Blue and University Sporting Blue pages. I rather liked it, even though I am an Oxford man not a Cambrisge man.Bduke 20:16, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately the person who uploaded Image:Bluescam.jpg did not provide any information about where it came from or who ownes it, so we are not able to use it on Wikipedia. -SCEhardT 21:11, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Fine. Keep up the good work.Bduke 21:42, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Peach Drop

Hi... in one of those chains of what does THAT imply? that resulted from my creating the Festival of Trees article and seeing it referenced from other places and chasing them down, I noticed that you had added this comment: "12:47, 19 November 2005 SCEhardt m (fix link (I'm not sure what the Peach Drop is, but I don't think it's cough medicine)) " in the Template:Atlanta events, which made me scratch my head and then dig a bit. I found out what the Peach Drop is, (that it was last in a template that wants chrono order was a good clue), so I created the article Peach Drop (Atlanta, Georgia) and changed the template to point to *that* article (and changed the Peach Drop page from a redirect to a disambig to it and the cough medicine article)

Since you live in the Atlanta area maybe you might want to expand a bit on the article??? As I left it, it's just a stub... I have friends in Atlanta but have never actually BEEN there on New Year's Eve! ++Lar 22:16, 13 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Great work on the Peach Drop article! Regretably I am never in Atlanta for New Years so I'm afraid I won't be much help in adding to the article. Looking around, I can't find an article on the ball drop in New York. Do we really not have one yet? The closest thing I can find is time ball. -SCEhardT 02:48, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hey thanks... just a little googling around works wonders sometimes. There is mention of the ball drop in the Times Square article but not much more than in passing there either. So ya, sounds like a good article for someone. I've never been THERE either so am probably not the guy although I guess I could start it?? Tangentially I wonder if weather balls are an outgrowth of time balls?? And to think all I wanted to do was read about Festival of Trees... LOL ++Lar 03:59, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, thats how Wikipedia works, right? You start at one place and end up somewhere else (almost) completely unrelated! As for the Times Square ball drop article, I'd say you should go ahead and start a stub if you feel motivated to do so... it seems to me that many editors are inclined to add to existing articles but not start new ones. -SCEhardT 05:46, 14 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My deletion

Matty tatkow has agreed to this biography. Do not delete. he has agreed it is fact and he wants it to stay up. -unsigned by LSEditor

Simply being fact is not enough to warrant placement on Wikipedia. "Biography articles should only be for people with some sort of fame, achievement, or perhaps notoriety. One measure of achievement is whether someone has been featured in several external sources (on or off-line)." Please take a look at the links I left on your talk page and consider whether Matty Tatkow is an article that belongs on Wikipedia. -SCEhardT 01:52, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Warning to Larry Sanger

If you would have looked at the file history for the small squirrel picture, you'd notice it happened over 3 years ago, and the said user has since resigned from any activity on Wikipedia. It'd seem sort of stupid to delete over 3 years after the fact. -unsigned by 209.33.36.146

I did notice that Larry Sanger had been inactive for quite some time, but I left the message just in case he happened to check in. Being old is no excuse to violate someone's copyright if in fact the photo does not belong to Larry. -SCEhardT 02:04, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Abuse of rollback facility

Why did you carry out a rollback of my edit here please? I was not vandalising. 86.136.95.149 04:00, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize - I was not suggesting that you were vandalizing. I have listed the redirect for deletion at WP:RFD since it does not meet the CSD. -SCEhardT 04:29, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Images listed for Speedy Deletion

Hi SCEhardt, thanks for your work on the images marked for speedy deletion. I noticed that you had added the proper licensing information on a few that I had listed, sorry for making more work for you! In any case, keep up the good work! ~MDD4696 (talkcontribs) 04:49, 19 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Fortune Lounge Group article

Hi

I would like to understand better why the Fortune Lounge Group article keeps on being deleted, as I have tried as much as possible to re-edit the article so that it is less promotional. It would be nice for the Group to feature in the Wiki and I do not mind re-editing the material once again, but I do not understand the grounds for deletion.

I see you have a number of online casinos and poker rooms listed in the Wikipedia and these articles have external links so if this is not ideally the factor for deletion - please could you give me some tips as to how we can feature in the wiki without breaking the editorial rules per se.

I'd really like some feedback and will await a timeous response.

Regards

Lil
