Ahor or Ahore (in Hindi आहोर) is a village in Jalore District of Rajasthan state in India. It is situated 17 km east of the Jalore on Jalore-Sanderao road(SH-16). It is the headquarters of the tehsil by the same name.

Geography

Ahor is located at 25.37°N 72.78°E / 25.37; 72.78. It has an average elevation of Template:M to ft. Strategically well located on the intersection of road to Jalore ( District Head Quarter) and Jodhpur(a major city)

Demographics

Population of Ahore is 14,623 according to census 2001. Where male population is 7,451 while female population is 7,172.

The Ahore tehsil has 41 Gram Panchayats. Name of the Gram Panchayats are: Agawari, Ahore, Aipura, Ajeetpura, Bala, Bankli, Badanwari,Bavadi, Bhadrajun, Bhanwarani, Bhanswara, Bhooti, Bhorda, Bithuda, Chandra, Charali, Chavarcha, Chunda, Dayalpura, Dodiyali, Ghana, Guda Balotan, Harji, Kamba, Kanwla, Kavarada, Nimbla, Norva, Nosra, Padarali, Panchota, Paota, Raithal, Rama, Rodla, Sedriya Balotan, Shankhwali, Sugalia Jodha, Thanwala, Umedpur, Valadara and Vediya.

Bhata Gair=

Ahore was Very famous for His Bhata Gair. It was a ceremony which used (till 2006) to take place during the festival of Holi. In this ritual people are divided in two team- one who consume alcohol and other who don't and they are separated with a fence in between. The Aim is to cross the fence and the team which crosses the fence first wins it. While some people try to come to the other side, other throw stones on the people trying to invade into their portion. It is the said rule that the participants should be of the Ahore village only.

It is stopped by the administration due to injuries and death of some people in the ceremony.DEVENDRA SUTHAR

I am also member and spokesman of MAHAVEER INTERNATIONAL a volunteer charitable NGO, who care for people in many ways such as eye care ,blood donation ,disaster help etc. I was nominated by Rajasthan police as a Community Police Officer ,such CPOs will make efforts for crime prevention in the local area and help the police in crime prevention and dispute resolution in the presence of both parties I join Politics so I can help to make India healthy and strong and also me make powerful in social life & business.
