University Heights is a neighborhood in Buffalo, New York.

The University Heights neighborhood is occasionally confused with the University District, a Buffalo Common Council district that encompasses several neighborhoods in northeast Buffalo, including University Heights.

Geography

The University Heights neighborhood is in the northeast corner of Buffalo. Main Street (NY 5) bisects University Heights. Main Street in University Heights is lined with an assortment of restaurants, bars, retail stores, and places of worship, many catering to the students and faculty of the University at Buffalo, and is one of the more active pedestrian-oriented commercial districts in the City of Buffalo.

The University Heights neighborhood is bounded on the west and south by the former Erie-Lackawanna Railroad right-of-way, across which are the North Buffalo and Central Park neighborhoods. Kenmore Avenue, which forms the boundary between the City of Buffalo and the towns of Amherst and Tonawanda, forms the northern edge of the neighborhood. The Kenilworth neighborhood in Tonawanda and the Eggertsville neighborhood in Amherst lie across Kenmore Avenue.

East is the University at Buffalo South Campus. Parkridge Avenue is considered the historic dividing line between University Heights and the Kensington neighborhood to the east.
