Josh Crutchley (born 4 June 1987 in Shrewsbury, England, growing up in Telford), is a British professional basketball player for the Birmingham Panthers competing in the British Basketball League.
Career
While competing in the local leagues with the Shropshire Warriors, Crutchley left Charlton School to study at the Telford College Of Arts and Technology taking up sport science. During his college basketball time he became basketball captain for the TCAT Academy for 3 years. He continued his studies at Bangor University, but later on turned down the option instead to sign with the newly formed Birmingham Panthers in February 2008.[1]
Throughout his basketball career, Crutchley competed in the Millennium Youth Games 2000, competed in the West Midlands Squad under 16s, and also competed in the England Basketball under 16s. He is still a part of the Shropshire Warriors programme, competing in the Premier League, Senior Men's side.[2]
Crutchley competes in the EBL division 4 with the Birmingham Bullets, a new franchise formed in 2009.
Achievements
Josh Crutchley's achievements include:
- League Champions during his junior season 2000 with Shropshire Warriors.[2]
- County College champions three years running 2003-2006[3]
- College Cup winners winning 2004/6
- TCATS Student and Basketball Player of the Year 2006
- 3 MVP awards with the Shropshire Warriors as well as 2 Most Improved and 1 Team Spirit
