InetSoft Technology Corp. is a privately owned computer software company that develops web-based business intelligence applications. The company was founded in 1996, and has over 120 employees between their corporate headquarters in Piscataway, New Jersey and satellite offices in Xi'an, China.
InetSoft provides a single product, Style Intelligence, with various editions that focus on operational BI, data visualization, business reporting, and an embeddable report engine.
History
InetSoft Technology Corporation was founded in 1996 by Luke and Larry Liang in the early days of theJava boom. The initial product released was Style Report, which focused on reporting and data analysis and is currently offered as Style Report Pro. Because of its Java root and small footprint, Style Report has been used in both client-side and server-side Java applications.
Over the years, InetSoft's products evolved alongside Java to become server-based Web solutions. The product line has grown to include reporting, dashboard and visual analysis. In 2008, InetSoft also begin to offer Software-as-a-service products for salesforce.com. In 2009, free hosted visualization and AJAX services were added.[1] As of 2010, InetSoft's software supports data access to the following enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications: SAP AG, Siebel Systems, J.D. Edwards, and PeopleSoft.
Awards
InetSoft Style Report won Best Java Reporting Tool in 2000[2], 2002[3], 2003[4], 2005[5] and in 2007[6]
Also in 2007, InetSoft's Style Report Analytic Edition won Best Java Business Intelligence Tool [7], the first year it had been nominated.
Products
InetSoft's products are based on open standards[8] technology that include XML, SOAP, Java language, and JavaScript. The products' design goal is easy integration with other open standards based software. InetSoft has offered the following products ranging from developer tools, to business reporting, and complete BI:
A product for operational BI. Provides reporting, dashboards, OLAP, scorecards, and alerts. It uses patent-pending Data Block technology[9] for data source access and data mashup. It was introduced on May 20, 2004 as Style Report Analytic Edition.
A developer tool that can be used as a report generation engine for both desktop Java applications [10] and web applications. Support tabular, flow, "banded" (like Crystal Reports), and mixed layouts. The embedded report scripting engine is the Mozilla Rhino engine. It was introduced on June 5, 1998.
Based on the same reporting engine, it also provides multi-threaded report generation with caching. Interactivity includes drilldown, parameters, search, sort and filter within a report. The Ad_hoc#Ad_hoc_querying component of Style Report EE is a flash based web application that end users can use to modify existing reports or create new reports. It was introduced on January 1, 2000.
A web-based data mashup and dashboard design product. Uses Adobe Flex to deliver a Rich Internet application. It was introduced on February 2, 2007.
Unlike most BI providers, InetSoft licenses per CPU rather than by named user.[11]
InetSoft also offers on-demand BI[12], including operational dashboards for Salesforce.com[13]
