Unlocking

This site and the main Real World site need to be unlocked to remain current. Other reality shows like The Hills and Survivor remain unlocked...there is no reason for you to have sole editing and editing decisions on them, especially when there are new updates for NOLA. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.171.211.249 (talk • contribs)

The articles (not "sites"), do not need to be unlocked to remain current, nor does any one editor have "sole" editorial jurisdiction over them. All you have to do is sign up for an account. It's free, takes seconds, you don't have to use your real name, and it allows the community to gauge you as an individual by your edits.

Protecting such articles until they've finished their first-run airings is necessary because they are ripe targets for vandalism or policy violations by editors who do not understand the site's fundamental policies concerning adding material (WP:V, WP:NOR, WP:NPOV , WP:RS, WP:CS), and display little interest in learning. It's why we have article protection in the first place, and if other articles experience the same problem, then administrators who edit those articles would certainly be justified in protecting those as well.
