I have made some edits to this page in an attempt to salvage it, but it is quite unclear what such a broad title would like to inlcude since the period covered is roughly 1609 to 1776. I would suggest that it simply becomes a choronologic naviagtion page starting with Hudson's exploration of the region and ending with the Provincial Congress....where readers would directed to more detailed articles about
New Netherland, Concession and Agreement, founding of churches and schools, the Revolutionary War, etc etc etc. As far as I can tell this the only state (of the origianl thirteen) that has such an article, likely because the title tries to catch everything and fails miserably.[[Special:Contributions/80.57.99.7|80.57.99.7]] ([[User talk:80.57.99.7|talk]]) 14:31, 17 June 2010 (UTC)

Wrong version

Sorry about all of the edits, but I was trying to revert the page to an unvandalized state, when the vandalism was actually in the template {{NJhistory}}. If you guys could find the right version and go to it, that'd be great. —Disavian (talk/contribs) 02:13, 1 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I found what I think to be a earlier version with most things the same as it is now, with some extra content, reverting it to that. Only a few minor differences. how do you request a page to be protected, anyone? Not sure if it is vandalized though, but there are at least 3 registered members who reverted to that copy after successive vandalism..can anyone scan this version for possible vandalism, and correct it? I don't have the time to, sorry. But this one seems to have more information so..... Noian (talk) 02:06, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

life in colonial new jersey

This section reads like a grade-school essay, and does not supply citations for any of its statements. It is full of the sort of errors you might forgive of grade school history, but it definitely needs to be rewritten and re-researched (eg the bit about log cabins). I'll work on it sometime....I have well research powerpoints somewhere on each of the colonies (which my class did for Honors US History (that has actual researched citations so it's not unverified grade school junk)) Noian (talk) 19:10, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a place where others will answer school questions for you. The answers are either already in the article, or can be expanded. Please do your own research. We do not provide answers or tutoring. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 22:51, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Verfication of information

I'm currently verifying information from the other articles due to high amounts of vandalism on this page. Until done, demoted article quality to C. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 05:12, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Religion of NJ?

I have looked at numerous pages, but this is one of the best. There is only one thing. What is the religion of Colonial New Jersey? There is only one page with the religion, and its not this one. Could you edit it? I have the religion right here. PRESBYTERIAN and QUAKER. Thank you.CamrynRocks! (talk) 16:26, 8 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would have to go and find my APUSH notes from last year to verify this. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 01:17, 9 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some comments

I've taken a short return from my retirement and compared the current version with an earlier version. Below are some small critiques:

  • {{main}} should be reverted back to {{details}} for New Netherland and New Sweden simply because this is actually not a fork of history for those two areas, as the articles have more history than here.
  • The {{main}} link to the city of New Netherland should be reverted to just New Netherland, since it is better to link to a "general" about page than a specific town.
  • The Universities should not have their own level 1 header, as they are existing schools that are in New Jersey and the sections are overly similar to the sections in other pages about the Colony of New Jersey. This is a fork of the History of the Colony to make the main page more readable, and should instead focus on History, of which the colleges founding are important to write, but in terms of style, I do not believe having the new level 1 header is appropriate.

I will not have internet for 2 months in a few days, so these are just some small suggestions.
