Untitled

All Delighted People is an EP by Sufjan Stevens released online by Asthmatic Kitty Records on August 20, 2010. It is centered around two versions of Stevens' ballad "All Delighted People". According to the official release webpage it is an "homage to the Apocalypse, existential ennui, and Paul Simon’s 'Sounds of Silence'."[1]

Song information

The song "The Owl And The Tanager" is a reworked version of the song "Barn Owl, Night Killer", a song which Sufjan Stevens had often played in concerts. The two versions of "All Delighted People" are radically different, the original version having a more orchestral sound whereas the classic rock version features prominent banjo and guitar and is far more upbeat. The closing track "Djohariah" is similar to "Sister" from Seven Swans, featuring an extended guitar solo in the middle section with a more conventional 'song' in the last five minutes of the track.

The album uses more electronica elements than on many previous releases, including staccato beats and skips on tracks such as "From The Mouth Of Gabriel" and "Djohariah".
