The Vulcan is a fully-automatic machine gun, fitted with a tripod. It is fired belt fed by feeding the darts into a belt and then putting the belt into the gun. It can be fired in pump action single-shot mode or full-auto mode with 6 D batteries. A single belt will fit into the ammo box on the side of the gun. Additional belts may be attached to the end of a belt.Sometimes darts will get jammed in the barrel when the gun is being fired automatically, causing minor problems with the blaster. The belt holds 25 darts regurarly. One of the most common mods for the vulcan is increasing the rate of fire by running the full auto mode off of RC battery packs. However, such mods have been known to burn out the guns motor and melt the blaster. This make the firing mod useless to try doing.

Nerf Blasters or (Nerf guns) are toy weapons made by Hasbro that fire foam darts or in some cases foam balls. Other blasters made by rival companies, are sometimes referred to as "Nerf guns" but they do not carry the official Nerf name. Nerf guns are manufactured in multiple forms, including pistols, rifles and automatic machine guns. The first Nerf guns emerged in the late 1980s with the release of the Nerf Blast-a-Ball[1] and the Arrowstorm.

Some of the Nerf blasters of the N-strike series are:

Recon CS-6

The Nerf Recon CS-6 is a Nerf gun that can be used as a rifle or pistol that shoots 6 rounds of clip system darts, by feeding the darts into a clip, and then putting the clip into the gun. The Recon is cocked by slide. Included with the Recon are a detachable stock, an extendable "silencer"-like tube, a flip-up sight, and an attachable light. The stock can hold one extra clip. The Recon has encountered criticism for jamming problems, but received praise for its convertible and innovative design. It was recalled in 2009 because the gun's plunger was exposed, and would catch skin with it as the gun was shot. The new Recon CS-6 blasters now have a cover over the plunger.

This gun is viewed as unique due to that any other Nerf gun attachments typically fit on it on it. (e.g. Raider CS-35 stock, Longshot CS-6 minigun, etc.)

Maverick REV-6

The Maverick REV-6 is a revolver handgun, loaded by putting 6 darts into the cylinder, snapping the cylinder shut, and then pulling a lever before each shot. The Maverick is currently Nerf's most successful and most popular gun to date. Receiving very high praise, the Maverick is unique in that it is capable of shooting every kind of Nerf dart available. It is also one of the most popular for its ability to be modified. It is also the most recognized Nerf N-Strike blaster as it has made appearances in some web comics such as Penny Arcade.

Color Schemes for the Maverick include: Blue (its debut color) Yellow (N-Strike Color) Clear (originally available as a pre-order item which came with a reserved copy of Nerf N-Strike for the Wii. However it has been re-released twice: once at wal-mart as a limited edition release, and it was re-released again for Nerf's "Clear the Way" campaign for 2010)

Raider CS-35

The Raider CS-35 is a pump-action rifle. It is loaded by putting 35 clip system darts into a drum, and then sticking the drum into the gun. It is cocked by a handle at the bottom of the barrel. The Raider also introduced a new feature: slam fire. With slam fire, the trigger is held down and each pump fires a dart. The CS-35 also features a detachable and extendible stock.

Longstrike CS-6

The Longstrike CS-6 is a sniper rifle and is a variant of the Longshot CS-6, fitted with a sight and a long barrel. The Longstrike is currently Nerf's longest gun, and is loaded by feeding clip-system darts into a clip and then putting the clip into the gun. It is cocked by an ambidextrous bolt slide. Two clips can be stored in the stock. The Longstrike is modeled after the Dragunov SVD.

Longshot CS-6

The Longshot CS-6 is a sniper rifle, fitted with a scope, bipod and a long barrel. The Longshot is one of the longest guns in the line. It is fed by a clip system and is cocked by a charging bolt. The barrel extension doubles as a single shot, muzzelloading pistol.

The Longshot has 3 color schemes. The Color Schemes include: Blue (Default Color, No Longer available) Yellow (Re-release, Less powerfull than blue variant) Red (Wal-Mart Exclusive)

Nite Finder EX-3

The Nite Finder EX-3 is a single-shot, muzzeloading handgun. It is simply loaded by a putting a dart into the barrel and then cocking the gun with a cocking handle. It comes fitted with a laser sight and can carry 2 extra darts as well. The Nite Finder is one of Nerf's most successful guns, surpassed in this only by the Maverick REV-6. The Nite Finder has received high praise for its simple but effective design.

Color Schemes for the Nite Finder include Blue (Debut Color) Yellow (N-Strike Color)

Firefly REV-8

The Firefly REV-8 is a Nerf revolver rifle, loaded by putting 8 darts into the cylinder, and then cocking the gun with a slide to shoot. It can also carry 8 darts for spare ammo. The Firefly is notable, though it can shoot any kind of Nerf dart, for having a specialized, glow in the dark dart made specially for it (this glow dart can only be fired in the Firefly, Maverick, Nite-Finder or AS-20).

Tech Target

The Tech Target is a single shot, muzzeloading handgun, loaded by sticking a dart into the muzzle and then cocking the gun. Two versions of the Tech Target are made: one shooting big, heavier darts and another shooting normal darts. The Tech Target can also carry 2 spare darts.

Rapid-Fire AS-20

Also called the AS 20, the AS-20 is a revolving semi-automatic blaster. Capable of shooting any kind of Nerf dart, the AS-20 is loaded by sticking darts into the cylinder on the front, and then pumping the gun 20-30 times, and with a pull of the trigger releasing the darts in either fully-auto or semi-auto form, depending on the position of the switch on the side. It has a shorter range but greater dart capacity then the Magstrike. The AS 20 is common in many Target department stores

Magstrike AS-10

The Magstrike is a 10 shot, fully-auto rifle. It is loaded by putting darts into a special clip, putting the clip into the gun and then pumping the gun for 20-30 times with the front handle. The Magstrike can be fired either semi-auto or full-auto. It has a longer range but smaller dart capacity then the AS-20. Normally it is common to see the Magstrike in Target department stores, but it was re-released to many department stores when it was re-named the "NRF Stark Industries Blaster" which was released in conjunction to the first Iron Man (film) Movie.

Titan AS-V1

The Titan is a single-shot, muzzle loading rocket launcher. It is loaded by sticking the rocket in the muzzle, pumping the gun for about 10 times, and then pulling the trigger. The Titan is Nerf's largest and most powerful gun, and can shoot over a very long distance. Although it says on the box it can shoot 60 ft it has been said to be able to shoot over 80 feet by angling the gun upwards. Due to the possibility of potential injury, it is quite rare to see it on sale by itself. It's common to see it though as part of the N-Strike Unity Power System. It was also re-released as part of the Hulk Abomination Blaster set which was released in conjunction with The Incredible Hulk (film) movie.

Color Schemes: Crimson Red/Gray (N-Strike Unity Power System) Green/Gray (Hulk Abomination Blaster)

Scout IX-3

The Scout IX-3 is a small blaster simillar to the Nite finder and switch shot. It has a small button on the top to make it possible to shoot while attached to the Titan using a small button on the left side of the Titan.

Hornet AS-6

The Hornet AS-6, like the Scout also attaches to the Titan. It has 6 barrels which each fire a dart either one after another or at the same time using a button on the side of the gun. Like the Titan, it is commonly seen with the Titan in the N-Strike Unity Power System. But unlike the Titan, it is available by itself. It is also re-released as part of the Hulk Abomination Blaster set.

Color Schemes: Crimson Red/Gray (N-Strike Unity Power System) Green/Gray (Hulk Abomination Blaster)

Vulcan EBF-25

However, such mods have been known to burn out the guns motor and melt the blaster. so one must exercise caution while using a modded Vulcan.

Deploy CS-6

The Deploy gets its name because it can be put into flashlight mode and with the push of a button it deploys into a six shot rifle. It uses the popular clip system, and it rarely jams. The Deploy receives high praise for this.

Color Schemes: Yellow/Orange/Gray (N-Strike) Clear ("Clear The Way" Re-release)

Alpha Trooper CS-18

The Alpha Trooper CS-18 is a pump-action rifle. It is loaded by putting 18 clip system darts into a drum, and then sticking the drum into the gun. It is cocked by a handle at the bottom of the barrel. The Alpha Trooper also uses "slam fire". With slam fire, the trigger is held down and each pump fires a dart. The Alpha trooper is praised for being a small and lightweight, yet high-capacity rifle. However, some have critisiced it due to how it jams frequently at the pumping handle. This problem can be fixed by using alot of effort to pull back and push the pump forward.

Secret Strike AS-1

The Secret Strike is Nerf's smallest dart gun. It is primed by pumping the handle underneath the barrel 7-8 times. It is fired using the button on the top. It also is the first dart gun to come with a belt clip.

Switchshot EX-3

The Switchshot EX-3 is a dart handgun made by Nerf. The gun fires one dart at a time up to 30 feet, with storage under the barrel for two extra darts. It is unique in the fact that by pressing a button near the muzzle, the top comes out. A Wii Remote can then slide in, creating a gun-like controller for the Nerf-based video game, 'N-strike Elite' for the Wii. The switch shots can be either sold with the Nerf N-Strike game, or by itself in some GameStop stores.

Color Schemes: Yellow/Orange (Released with Nerf N-Strike) Blue/Orange (Released with Nerf N-Strike Elite)

Stampede ECS

The Stampede ECS is Nerf's newest blaster. It loads by clips, holding 18 streamline darts. It includes a blast shield, grip with pop-out bipod, three 18-dart clips, one 6-dart clip, and sixty streamline darts. The blaster requires six 1.5 Volt "D" Batteries. It is fully automatic. The Stampede ECS is modelled after an assault rifle. It is also the real life release of the spartan but was given the name of another blaster from the video game.

Spectre REV-5

The Spectre is like a fusion of the Recon and the Maveric. It has an adjustable stock and uses clip system darts. It is labeled as an "customizable stealth blaster". It is presumably the real life release of the vengeance REV-8 but holds only 5 darts.

Barricade RV10

A new blaster coming out on 11/15/10 holds 10 bullets and is semi/automatic. It can also fit on a stock but it does not come with one. It requires batteries to run a motor that can be turned on and off by a switch near the handle. Pulling the trigger with the gun turned on fires a dart.

Nerf dart tag blasters

Another brand of nerf blasters which uses darts that can attach to a vest.

Crossfire a blaster similar to the scout but can hold 5 extra darts instead of just 2 and can attach to a tactical rail like an accesor.

Hyperfire similar to the rapid fire 20 it holds 10 darts but is loaded with a slide instead of a pump.

Furyfire A blaster which holds 8 darts and resembles the vengeance rev 8 from the nstrike game. It's a cross between a pump-action shotgun, and a tear gas grenade launcher.

Stormfire A Blaster which bears resemblance to a semi-automatic pistol (such as a Desert Eagle). It has 3 storage areas. 2 of them are below the barrel and another one is under the handle.

Modification

Although Hasbro prints "Do not modify darts or dart blaster" on most Nerf guns, a select group of enthusiasts modify the guns[2]. Modifications can include removing the internal parts which restrict air, spring replacement, replacing the barrels with PVC or brass tubing, and even paintjobs or cosmetic enhancements. Homemade darts; called "Stefans"(named after Stefan Mohr, who developed the process) have also been made, usually being made out of foam backer rod[3]. Many websites, forums and communities within the internet are dedicated to Nerf modification and "NERF War" hosting.
