Jack Tarpley Camp Jr. (born 1943) is a United States federal judge.
Early Life and Education
Born in Newnan, Georgia, Tarpley received a Bachelor of Arts from The Citadel in 1965, an Master of Arts (postgraduate) from the University of Virginia in 1967, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1973.
Military career
Camp was in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970, and in the United States Army Reserve from 1970 to 1986.
Legal career
He was in private practice in Birmingham, Alabama from 1973 to 1975, and in Newnan, Georgia from 1975 to 1988.
Federal judicial career
On December 18, 1987, Camp was nominated by President Ronald Reagan to a seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia vacated by Charles A. Moye, Jr. Camp was confirmed by the United States Senate on April 19, 1988, and received his commission on April 20, 1988. He served as chief judge from 2006 to 2008, assuming senior status on December 31, 2008.
