Mixed martial arts record from Sherdog

Joseph Daniel Doerksen (born October 9, 1977) is a Canadian mixed martial artist from New Bothwell, Manitoba. He is a former middleweight contender of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and a veteran of the International Fight League (IFL). He specializes in Brazilian jiu-jitsu[1], with the vast majority of his victories resulting from submission techniques.

In November 2006, it was reported that Doerksen had signed a contract with the PRIDE Fighting Championships, [1] but with Zuffa's purchase of the PRIDE organization in the spring of 2007, Doerksen's contract saw him enter the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) organization instead.

His first fight in the organization was against PRIDE veteran Paulo Filho for the vacant WEC middleweight championship at WEC 29 on August 5, 2007. Doerksen lost the fight via TKO in the first round.

Joe Doerksen fought at the Canadian Fighting Championship in Winnipeg on May 22 he defeated Gregory Babene by a Triangle Choke in the second round.

Doerksen returned to the UFC to face Tom Lawlor on May 8, 2010 at UFC 113, replacing an injured Tim Credeur.[2] Following a first round in which he was rocked by Lawlor, Doerksen rebounded and won via submission (Rear Naked Choke) in the second round.

Doerksen next faced C.B. Dollaway on September 25, 2010 at UFC 119.[3] He lost the fight via guillotine choke.

Doerksen is expected to face Dan Miller on December 11, 2010 at UFC 124.[4]
