Kathryn Thomas (born January, 1979) is an Irish television presenter from Blackbog Road, Carlow. Thomas attended the girls national school in the Green Road, Carlow and began her secondary school years in St. Leo’s College.
In second year she transferred to the King's Hospital[1] school in Dublin as a boarder. She studied Arts (English, Sociology and Information Studies) at University College Dublin but left before finishing as she won a contract to present the Children's TV program Rapid. She also took London Guildhall acting exams to Grade 8. She now resides in Mount Brown, Dublin.
In 2008, Thomas won the Sony Bravia TV Personality of the Year at the Irish Film & Television Awards's (IFTA) in Dublin, as well as Best Female Presenter at the TV Now Awards. In 2008, she also released her own travel book documenting places she had visited.
Thomas is best known for her work on the television series No Frontiers.[2] Her No Frontiers assignments have included stories about boomeranging in Australia, bungee jumping in New Zealand, child trafficking in Namibia, and American football.
She has also appeared in Eircom's broadband advertisements on Irish television.
In RTÉ's 2008 season, Thomas joined Aidan Power, presenter of Failte Towers, to present Winning Streak: Dream Ticket. In 2009, she presented Winning Streak, with Marty Whelan.
It has been confirmed that she will be hosting The House on RTE in 2011.
