The 2011 Auburn Tigers football team will represent Auburn University in the college football season of 2011–2012. The team is coached by Gene Chizik, who is entering his third season with Auburn. The Tigers play its home games at Jordan–Hare Stadium in Auburn, Alabama, and competes in the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Tigers enter the 2011 season as defending national champions.

Previous season

During the 2010–2011 campaign, the Tigers finished the season undefeated, 14–0, with wins over No. 12 South Carolina, No. 12 Arkansas, No. 6 LSU, long time rival Georgia, No. 9 Alabama, No. 18 South Carolina for a second time in the SEC Championship, and No. 2 Oregon in the BCS National Championship Game.[1] They finished the season as the consensus National Champions, being voted No. 1 in the AP and Coaches' Polls in securing Auburn's first national title since 1957.[2] In addition to the national title, junior quarterback Cam Newton became the third Auburn player to win the Heisman Trophy.[3]
