Jessie J

Jessica Ellen Cornish (born 27 March 1988), better known by her stage name Jessie J, is an English singer and songwriter. She first saw fame when she began writing tracks for Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera. In February 2011, she won the prestigious Critic's Choice award at the Brits. She also co-wrote the song "Party in the U.S.A." for Miley Cyrus.

Her début single "Do It Like a Dude" was followed up by "Price Tag".

Career history

1988–2005: Early theater work

Jessie J was born Jessica Ellen Cornish in Redbridge, Essex[citation needed]. She attended Colins Performing Arts. She was cast as an eleven year old in Andrew Lloyd Webber's West End production of Whistle Down the Wind.[1][2][3] Educated at Mayfield High School, at age 16 she began studying at the BRIT School, and joined a girl group at the age of 17.[4] Jessie J has an irregular heartbeat, and also suffered a minor stroke at the age of 18. As a result, she doesn't drink alcohol or smoke. She also cites this as the reason why she does not take narcotics.[5]

2005–09: Pop career

She was signed to Gut Records, recording an album for the label, but the company went bankrupt before releasing material.[3][4] Jessie J then found success as a songwriter, gaining a Sony ATV publishing contract.[6] She was also the supporting singer for Cyndi Lauper during Lauper's UK dates of her 2008 Bring Ya To The Brink tour. Jessie began her career when she started to pen lyrics for the artists such as, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus.[citation needed] The biggest single she co-wrote was the Miley Cyrus song "Party in the U.S.A.".

2010-11: Solo career

In 2010, Jessie J launched her solo career débuting Do It Like a Dude as her first single, charting at number-two on the UK Singles Charts. Her second single Price Tag, which features rapper B.o.B, became Jessie J's first number-one single after it charted at number-one for two consecutive weeks in the UK Singles Charts on 6 and 13 February 2011. Her début album, Who You Are, is set to be released February 2011 in the UK and April in the US.[7]

In songwriting credits for Price Tag, Jessie J is referred to as "Pea".

Denies Illuminati reports The singer who in her new video for “Price Tag” makes a hand gesture which is a recognised symbol of allegiance to the group tweeted: “lmao at the illuminati comments on ‘price tag’. Jheeze people im doing the ‘OK’ sign over my eye. No 666 round here round here… No thank you (sic).”
